Engineer was my fav class. :( (Mines)

Don't get me wrong still is one of my fav :)

Just needed to know what you all thought. on this matter.
You can now blow mine ups with a grenade or anything explosive.
This in my opinion dimishes the engineer class more than it already is diminished. I play engineer most of the time and i have come to relize that with the new patch comes a great deal of disadvantage to the engineer.

Mines are now blown up. I havent tried Special forces and i dont know if the c4 gets blown up as well but the mines do and this is a big problem.

Before the patch my mine plants would really work well. Unlike Special Forces mines do not need to be triggerd by the user. Mines can simply be planted below objects and as soon as someone rolls over them KABOOM. Which means PLENTY OF TKS for people who are either blind or think that C4 is all that is in the game. either way PPL OPEN YOUR EYES.. THis is besides the point i once defended a flag from 3 incoming tanks just by placing my mines in specific ways. so the Engineer can BE A VERY powerful unit.

Now the problem with blowiing up mines is that alot of people are skiller or smart. On many maps there are certain places where mines are likely to be found. before entering the area a tank simply has to shoot the floor in which case he catches a mine which triggers the rest to blow up as well. So there goes your mine plant.

Now being an engineer in this new patch is hard as hell ive had to find other ways to blow stuff up. UNATURAL WAYS in which i will not discuss for it gets many people lol.. and its funny to see it happen.

Just wanted to know from other engineer players what do you think? doesnt this diminsh our CLASS!

i still get the newbs easy but the more experianced players can get by easy enough.

AND FOR GOD SAKES IF YOU SEE A SKULL THIS MEANS BAD NEWS... AND BLOW THE ****S OUTTA IT INSTEAD OF ROLLING OVER IT... IT should decrease TK's ( havent seen that yet ..)

Really would like some feedback from anyone who agrees or disagrees.

Knotice how in most games there are about 2 / 20 engineers on a team.

I share the same feelings you do. Not only that, there is also the problem now where of you ahve mines nobody notices but they are close together, even if somone runs over them, it used to only get one mine, but now it gets all of them in the area, which is a big deal since you only start with five.

Wow...that's just plain stupid you can blow mines up but not c4. Before you could at least wrench mines. Now you can blow them up too. All this while c4 stays no matter what.

Just started playing with mines. APCs and Tank shells can also take out mines. I guess you can use a mine as a booby trap though. Lay it then blow it up with a nade. Get a pretty big boom. Other than that they seem kind of worthless now.

i like that we now have a way to remove mines but.... it way to easy now, they should of made it harder like you have to use your knife to remove the mine?

:shrugs: i think thats a good idea for both mines and c4
make the tank whores get out of their tank to disarm those mines with their knifes and for c4, people can sprint up to it praying they get to the c4 before the spec opps guy see's them lol

            any 1 like my idea?

I am very disapointed with the way they treat mines now, and I think I am done with regular BF2 until mods come out. It was hard enough before to take the time to lay out your mines. Now commanders are just blowing them up with arty and everyone else with nades or whatever. Either leave the mines the way they were or give us more of them. I dont even want to take the time to lay them anymore and maybe that was the point. The most effective way to use them now is hiding them one by one in different dark spots and keeping a few for attacking vehicles in a close range suicide plant. I think its ironic that I cant use them to defend flags now.
Special forces is the way to go for flag defense, they cant blow up your c4!

I love the engineer class. The shotgun in close range (city maps) is sweet.

I love that you can now destroy claymores with explosives.

u can do some crazy things with mines now. If you're creative enough you can set some sweet traps and use grenades to set it off. Line up a row of mines... throw a grenade at it and they'll go off like a chain reaction destroying anything close by...pretty cool actually.

Re: Engineer was my fav class. (Mines)

I play engineer exclusively myself. I don't think this has a big impact on game play at the moment since the majority of the people still blindly run over mines without thinking (and usually they are your teammates). You don't know how often an enemy tank has seen me lay down a mine and they still run over it. Also, this idea of combining your grenades with your mines to set them off at opportune times is interesting.

I'm still upset by this change by EA, however, because it destroys the real point of having mines in the first place which is to set up a barrier against the enemy ahead of time to help defend a flag. And it's not like this wasn't already impossible with the TK problems before the patch. Using mines on a suicide run against a tank, although effective, is sort of silly and much less interesting in a tactical sense. That's what AT weapons are for (which ironically are better sniper weapons in this game).

What offends me most about this change, however, is they seemed to feel this change was necessary but couldn't find the time to deal with bunny hopping, couldn't figure out what's going wrong with the blue name/red name bug, and couldn't successfully fix the AA rockets. Are the people at EA even playing this game?
