how to find the core on a 3800 athlon?

ive just bought a new cpu an amd 64 3800

i didnt know they were so small

anyway the guy who i bought it from said this was a 90nm venice core
is there anyway to check that it is a venice core not a newcastle without actually installing it into the pc?

yea you can run the numbers on the processor thru a thing on the AMD website. Unfortuntly i cant tell you where it is but i know its there. You can also just do a google search using the numbers from teh heat spreader. That well work the best probably.

Run Everst Home Edition (free). Then on the left, go under Motherboard, and then click on CPU. It should tell you your core.

Listed as "CPU Alias".
