Whats your FPS with a 7800 GTX?

    I run
    1024x768
    All High
    100% View Distance
4x Ingame w/ Supersampling Anti-Aliasing turned on in control panel
    16x AF

And I only average around 60 FPS, it stays in the mid-50's most of the time and sometimes goes down to the 30's. Anybody got any idea what could be causing this?

I have a fresh install of Windows XP, I have tried 77.72 and 77.77 drivers, I tried updated motherboard driver (but it actually made it worse) and I tried the beta OpenAL drivers for my Audigy 2 ZS (and they also made it worse).

Do you think my motherboard could have any effect? I heard something about motherboard could be a bottleneck also.

Another thing, my RAM is only running at 166 Mhz because they have mismatched timings, would I get better performance with 200 Mhz RAM?

Edit: I found this kinda weird, whenever I run 3dMark05 and upload my test results, it says my vid card is clocked at like 519/13xx and I haven't overclocked it. I don't even have an overclocking program, and I haven't installed Coolbits yet since I have reinstalled Windows. Doesn't BF2 have a problem with overclocking? And since those clocks are higher than normal, would that have an effect? Whenever I went into Coolbits it said its clocks were at the default 490/1300.

Has to be something causing this, my cousins computer with a 6600gt was getting near 50 fps steady. I'm not sure what the problem is though .

I think in part your system can't feed the graphic card fast enough and your ram speed is probably the main reason. Are you using socket 939 or 754? In order to find out what is causing the problem you should turn off AA and AF settings and see what happens to your FPS. If that doesn't increase FPS then the rest of the system is holding you back. Try setting geometry to medium, lighting to medium and dynamic shadows and see if that helps FPS. I run my Audigy 2 with sound settings on: Hardware, medium quality, eax enabled.

I have Socket 939. I'll go play a game with AA and AF off, and turn off TSAA. Brb.

It didn't make any difference...so what does that mean?

I have a BFG 6800 ultra and run 1600x1200x32 resolution all BF2 settings to high and get 30-80 frames per second depending on server, avg 50. Right click desktop, properties, go into nvidia, turn OFF vertical sync, turn to high quality. Turn up resolution in game. Enjoy a great sharp detail picture. Try this, delete the driver in add remove, delete the bf2 folder completely in my documents, empty recycling bin, reboot, reinstall driver, reboot. Make the changes, rerun game it will remake the entire folder again saving a complete reinstall of game.

              Also try: http://www.bf2.com/showthread.php?t=1415

www.fraps.com free frames per second program

www.aquamark3d.com, might have to google it. My score 59000.
my other computer, AMD 3000 with 6800gt 2 gig 2700 ram scored 44000.
Prior to the 6800gt this computer had a 5700 ultra and scored 26000.

Not sure why you have a high end pc and run 1024x768 resolution with Super sampling AA? I would raise the resolution and only use 4x AA and you will get a better picture and more FPS. SSAA kills FPS and should only be used if you have an SLI setup.

I have a 4400+ with a 7800gtx and I run 1920x1200 resolution with 4x AA and 4x AF with all game settings on high. I get about 60fps with no action and 40fps with action.

I would also turn off the AA settings in game and use the NVIDIA control panel, and use the 81x series drivers.
