Can I not get first sergent!?

http://bf2s.com/player/43639744/ are my stats, I am a Master Sergent, and have had the basic badges for a while, but I cant hit 1st sergent for some reason, I have given it time, and still I havent been promoted, so does this mean I cant be a 1st sergent, I have to wait till i hit 50k?

Did you get veteran pistol without getting basic?

If you did, you will never get 1st Sgt.

Well in the stats retriever it shows that you have ur basic pistol badge! I had the same problem. 2 days ago, i didn't have this badge and I asked EA. Today I saw the badge in stats retriever (not sure if it were added to my account or if it is a program issue which gives you automatically the basic badge if you have the veteran one).
So I contacted EA again and they told me that there would be other requirements than only the basic badges! I'm not sure what it is but they said i still have to meet some requirements!

You can still get gunnery sergent so don't worry about it.

I have this too and it is really ****ing me off.

One weird thing though. Today I noticed the basic knife and basic pistol badges apear on the group of badges along with the rest which were never there before.

As it looks as though I must have been given them but at the same time as I didnt officially win them there is no activation to hit the next rank.

So I think I am doomed anyway...

I need a fix soon, even though I am only about 14,000 away from next rank, this will also mean I wont be able to win certain medals.

once you get master sergeant you cant get promoted to first sergeant, its either master sergeant or first sergeant not both

You can still get gunnery sergent so don't worry about it.

Sergeant Major you mean right? true, but not the point.

a lot of people have been having this problem, ive been keeping track of a few threads and theres good news, and bad news.

good news first: EA has addressed this problem, this is why youre all noticing basic badges that were never been there before (this is for the people that got their vet/basic at the same time). all they needed to do was run an update on the rank database and alter some code. this change will prevent this problem from continuing to happen.

bad news: if youre already a master sergeant your **** outta luck until Sergeant Major, that is unless EA decides to take the issue further, which they should.

It doesn't need a patch, the fixes for people who are about to be promoted and the people who have already been allocated the wrong rank can all be fixed by running an update on the rank database.

I'll make sure to pass this one onto the developers, I can see how this one would be frustrating for some.

As best I can tell, EA has addressed this problem on their end. As of a day or so ago, players profiles who had previously earned the higher badges, but not the lower are now showing the lower badge as well.

Additionally, the lower badge has the same "Earned Date" on them.

However, it also may look that you will not earn the "second tier" of rank untill unless you have not already gotten it. Er, what I mean to say is a Master Sergeant WILL NOT get the rank of First Sergeant, but upon hitting 50,000 points you will be awarded the rank of Sergeant Major.

For those of you already stuck at Master Gunnery Sergeant, I am not sure anything can be done without another patch from EA.

you can check to see if any of the basic badges you were missing are showing up now by checking your stats here. hopefully they'll figure out something for those of us who should rightfully be First Sergeants.

whhaaaaa...look guys and gals, the bottom line, without an EA fix, is this as im in the same boat, we will NEVER be first sergeant or sergeant major. We will be Master sergeant and master funnery sergeant. I had thought this was fixed but whatever. The news is, that is the price we pay for not getting our basic knife badge untill we had over 50 knifes total...Those guys deserve the higher rank as First sergeant and Sergeant major because as new recruits they went out and kicked some azz with that K-bar while we all were getting used to our rifles and nades...oh yea and noob tubes. (except the lamers in the knife/pistol/paddle servers) they dont count in this due to overall luckyness and/or weakness.

As my grandfather has told me for over 30 years the best soldiers would kill a nazi as good with a knife up close and personal as they could with their M1 Garand or Thompson. no offence to any GER friends out there

you can flame all you want I have almost 100 knife kills and I wish to god I could get freakn 7 of them in 1 dang round. *pulls a clump of hair out* yep my grandaddy would be dissapointed, I am still shy of the basic knife. and here I am gunnery sgt. its the only thing that really bothers me over this awsome game....it is a game...*God dang it Justice...its only a Game, who the F*** cares about a stupid basic knife badge*

I really love the BF series period bugs and all. You guys would not know it but it sure the hell beats commodore 64 or pong, it wont really matter at all after about 7 or 8 months when FH is out or in 2 or 3 years when we are all powning each other in BF3. so happy slaying men and remember...

I got my 1st seargent no probleme . I had the same probleme ..so i went in thos servers that gives you medals that you already have...i think they are unranked or somthing ..anyways i did that and regot my basic pistole and knif i loged off and on and it worked..but i was staff seargent b4 i did this so i dunno

btw isent it a big step from 1st seargent 20 000 to the next promotion 50 000 i say they should add somthing in the middle ..i have currently 42 000 so i need just 8000 ..but its kind of depressing playing between thos 2 classes
