can't run bf2 after installing 1.03

I know you all are sick of people complaining about the new patch, but I just don't know what else to do.

The problem is whenever I start BF2 the screen turns black first. Nothing unusual about that, but after a few seconds it just crashes to the desktop. Just to add that, it used to run just fine before installing the patch.

System (notebook):
centrino 1,7 ghz
512 mb ram
ati mobility radeon 9700 / 256 mb

i know that's not the best there is, but as i said it used to run really good before the patch.

i already tried to install just about every driver i coud find for my 9700 but nothing seems to work.

PS.: sorry to bother you if this problem has been discussed before, but i just spent about 3 hours searching the whole web and coudn't find nothing, so just tell me how to find some solution.
PPS.: i'm not natively speaking english (i'm from austria), so please don't complain about mistakes.

finally running.... out of ideas

ok. so i updated my graphics driver, audio driver, chipset driver and even my touchpad driver (!!!!! didn't really expect that to be the problem but i'm starting to get really desperate).

i also cleared my bf2 cache out and now i've got nothing to do but wait and hope for someone of you guys telling me what to do.

Firstly there has to be at least 30 threads in this forum with people with the same problem. I don't understand how you didn't manage to find them?

At what point *exactly* does it crash to desktop. What's the last thing you tried to do before it crashed?

okay, i forgot to say that.

1. when i start the game, the screen goes black. after some time you would expect the ea logo to appear, but i don't even get to that point. CTD after couple seconds of black screen, no error message. and that's something i haven't read before. all the other people write that their game crashes way later.

2. i already did update punkbuster. dindn't help

Join the club m8 i've tried everythin (clearin cache, updating drivers, punkbuster) if i was ye i wud gan down ur nearest comp place n buy a new'in (computer) it'll solve it in double quick time
