1.03 server connection problems

Ever since I installed 1.03, I can't find a server below 150 ping. I've tried everything I can possibly think of including things others have suggested. I limited my filters to ranked, same version and punk buster and had 3,000+ servermatches, but they were all 150 ping and higher. I went to a server that I normally ping 50-60 on and my base ping was 157 and it was extremely laggy and slow. I didn't restart my machine after I installed, maybe that's it? I've reinstalled BF2 and I'm dling the patch again to see if maybe it was an issue with the first copy of the patch. If that doesn't help, I don't know what will. My firewall's off as is my virus scan when I play. Obviously the EA tech support is no help and I'm not going to submit a ticket after I've seen what other peeps here are going through with them. I've also played some other games I play online like CS Source and DoD source, they're both running fine on servers, this issue seems to have something to do with BF2 and the servers. So if anyone can help me, I'll greatly appreciate it. :cry:

Side note: After 1.02, I had similar problems in finding servers I could connect to with low pings, that was remedied by just putting in a ping search of 70... that doesn't even work, plus the fact the server I usually go to as mentioned above was extremely laggy, where I saw other peeps in the server at the regular low pings. I have rebooted my modem and as mentioned, the other games are running fine with low pings. Help :cry:

well, game is reinstalled, patch reinstalled and I still get the same thing...guess I can't play until EA solves the issues, if that'll ever happen

Try downloading All Seeing Eye and see if you get the same ping response time. This is a way of testing your ping to the BF2 servers outside of BF2 itself, allowing you to better understand where the problem is.

Thanks for the help, but neither clearing the cache, server logos and updating PB helped. I'm just going to have to face it that I'm screwed

yeah, it won't let me install ASE, after it runs it's install procedure, it just sits there with the only option to cancel.

Hellcat 29er, What computer brand do you have, dell or what? My brother has the same issue and I just put version 1.02 on his comp and it runs fine and there are still servers playing. So while you wait til it is resolved, please enjoy yourself playing a patch that actually works! Sorry for your troubles buddy! I feel your pain!

Just consider to download again the new patch and install it. I've run thru some problems and finally it was a non good patch file.

I would suggest a defrag tbh. After you clear the cache files do a web wipe delete any old files and rubbish do an ad sweep virus scan then reboot. Then defrag using Diskkeeper.

It won't let you install ASE? Hmm....

Try BF2 AutoLoader then. Just google it to download.

You really need to do this first to see where the ploblem is.
