BF2 - To buy or not to buy

Yep, pretty retarded of me to come into a BF2 forum and ask if it's worth buying, but I am anyway.

I've been playing the demo version of BF2 for two weeks, and it's been a blast. The map is getting old but it seems like the gameplay never does.

I'm a poor teenager, and if I spend the money on BF2 it better be damned worth it. The problem is, this computer isn't very great. I run battlefield 2 on low settings, and I can only play a 64 player map of the demo if the server they are running is very stable. Even then it seems like I get some lag. I usually only play 32.

However, I'm not sure if I should buy it, because literally like 5 of the 78 servers that are available to play seem to be lag free. Is this how it is in the retail version? I use cable so that can't be the problem... I don't want to be running around looking for servers that arn't full AND don't lag like a crazy mofo. That and, in the retail version do people actually play on 32 player servers, or mainly just 64?

Thanks for the info. Anything else you'd like to say about the game while I'm thinking about getting it?

I would say that most servers operate evenly between 32, 48, 50 and 64 players. In other words, there are plenty of servers. Now that the game is out, the server admins have had a chance to tweak their servers for better BF2 performance.

Having said that, the game is extremely taxing on a PC. Any weaknesses in the system will quickly be revealed. But if you are enjoying the game play, you will enjoy seeing more servers, maps and weapons.

Yesterday, I notice Frys is selling BF-2 for $34.99!

In my opinion, BF2 is the best game out now!

Also, atleast 1.5 gb out ram helps out on gameplay!

Just get yourselfe more ram, i play on 512 now, but when i played on 1 gig before i got bf2 working on my own pc it was a blast. (still is, just some minor stuttering)

I think the full version is more optimised than the demo aswell, it will most likely run better.

          GET IT.

I would like to buy a vowel, is there an I?

I don't think the gulf of oman is indicative of how the game will play on your system as a whole, if you can’t run the game with at least medium detail with 100% view distance I would pass till you upgrade your hardware, you'll get a whole 2 frames on a map like Kubra Damn.

I'd say get it. And upgrade as you play. And finding a good server should be no problem.

I think it's the other way around, kurba damb doesn't represent bf2 well, since it's probably the most demanding map imo. While every other map runs easily with an exception of fu shee pass (spelling).

I say buy it. Even if you get bored of the new maps, vehicles, and weapons, the mods will be rolling in before long and you'll have countless hours of better gameplay to experience. Upgrading the PC is always good too.
