What is better for a pci express video card ? nvidia 6600gt 128 Vs 6800 256 $200 ?

This is a question: what is better for a $200 price range for Video cards. I was told to get a 6800 256 pci express video card then was advice to get a nvidia 6600gt 128 meg pci express video card. The other choice was a ati $200.00 range too.

My system is a amd 64 bit 2800 754 sempron cpu with 1 gig ram 512x2 pc 3200 ram with a raptor hd 36 10,000 rpm and a ASUS nvidia 6200tc 256 meg pci express video card, Msi K8N NEo3 754 chipset mb windows xp pro sp2 and sony dvd rom.

Later on i plan on getting a 939 sli Msi mb and another video card and Amd 64 bit cpu 4000+ speed.

i would go with the 6800 256 totally. with the 7800's out, the prices on the 6800's are cheap and perfect. the 6600gt is a good card, but the 6800 is better in many ways. first, its overall a faster card with more pipes and etc, plus theres always overclocking. 2nd, its a 256mb card, which means u can play at higher resolutions w/ better fps than the 6600gt can. 3rd, since u plan on going sli later, dual 6800's are a significant performance leap over dual 6600gts. as for the ati one, the new x1600's are gonna be in the 200$ range, but they arnt going to be on the market till november 30th, plus if u want the 256mb ati one, its gonna be 250-300$. also if u ever want to go dual card with an ATI, ur gonna need a crossfire-specific card and i think a special mobo.

yes 6800 ultra would be your best bet mate. but 6600gt runs great as well. if you ever going to upgrade you might as well buy the best money can at the time because it'll be outdated in afew months

Always double up when upgrading to a new video card. And for that price range youd want a 6800 GT, X800XL, 6600GT. I'd recommend either the 6800 GT or the X800 XL, if you play Doom 3 and Opel GL games get the 6800 GT, and for Halflife 2 and Direct 3D get the X800 XL. Other wise they perform pretty much even in most other benchmarks, but the X800 XL sells for 100$ less.

6800 ultra, or 6800 gt definitely. Go with BFG technologies, lifetime tech support 24/7 toll free and already OC'd from factory.
