    beginners questions to modding-modONserver

Alright i'm new to the modding scene but i want to make sure I've got the right idea of things before i start fullswing
    so heres my few questions:
    1. after completing your mod, how exactly will the server be running it? More specificly, will the clients already need this mod downloaded and installed to connect to the server?
    2. Will the general client of bf2 1.03 be able to connect and stream download the mod off my server while they connect; and then run the game with that mod smoothly?
    3. If i'm running a mod on a server, can the server be on the public server lists?
    4. If i add random bmp's to the mod, will the client be able to stream download them as they connect/play?
    5. Is the bf2 editor that ea provides the best place to start out on, and with their tutorials? And what about using that stuff and then getting it working on a home server to the internet for a public server.
    Thanks very much

Actually it is possible to have server side mods but you wouldnt be able to have new models and textures, just code possibly and python scripting.

what about placing images (From file on server) somewhere in the game. sort of like the server image while connecting just ingame when certain things happen.

You can have a server image on the loading screen but not in game.

do you think bf2 will ever have stream downloading of new files and mods from the server like cs has?

Theres an auto map downloader program somewhere for bf2 but I doubt DICE will add in this feature. It was supposed to be added but EA in all its lovely wisdom decided to appeal to people with ISDN connections and scrapped this feature. Also servers were meant to hose 128 people and theres still some code lying around for it but again EA in all its wisdom decided against this.

Who really has the patience to sit in the map loading screen while a map downloads?
The maps are about 75Mb each so thats a 5-15 minute wait.
People complain about the 20-30 SECOND wait to load now.

Also the map would have to stay on the server for more than the usual 2 or 3 rounds so people can actually play the map after they downloaded it.

It would never happen for mods either. You just have to download mods manually. (You can get a lot of people downloading, by showcasing your work on sites like this one)
