BF2 hijacked my sound system!

After 1.03 patch I get no sound from speakers or headset...other than when in BF2 game. When I try to play play music files or cd's with media player or Roxio AudioCentral I get indications the music is playing (visuals and sliding bars, ect.) but no sound? I know drivers and speakers are OK because in-game sound is great. I did delete some other games (including BF1942) but had to do a restore point because BF2 would crash to desktop when I tried to join a server. After restore point BF2 was fine again. I'm really computer impaired and don't know what to check. Any help appreciated!

Uninstall BF2, reinstall sound card drivers, check sound works, install bf2 again, install bf 1.03. Check sound works, if not there might be an IRQ conflict and contact Turtlebeach.
