    CA violent game law!

Seems good ole' Arnold is busy in California signing a new violent game bill... but weren't we just here a few days ago?
In order to understand what this means for Americans and the Video Game Industry, we must first take a long hard look at the law itself and its contrasts with Michigan SB-0416. There are several key difference in this law that appear which lean toward an actual precedent for making a difference in how games containing graphic violence and strong sexual content are distributed in retail outlets.
So piggy backing off the Michigan law... what do you guys think?

I think it is something that must be done, but at the same time it needs to be a broader stroke. Get violent movies, TV shows, etc. into the mix. Don't just focus on video game!

after having read that link, i must say that law makes total sense. it doesnt ban or restrict games in anyway, just makes ppl actually enforce the rating system. so a 16 year old cant buy some games. kids are idiots anyway.

I dissagree though glass...in a way. While it makes sence, it won't change how many kids play mature games and whatnot. If parents let their kids buy mature games normally (most don't care at all), they will be happy to buy it for them if the kids can't get it themselves. Ive goten most of my mature, violent games on birthdays, christmas, and so on from parents, grandparents, etc.

Now aday much of the community for games such as BF2, Halo, Half Life 2, GTA, etc is made up of kids. Their parents don't care. I didin't know anybody in middle or high school in which their parents gave a crap what they played, no matter what rating it was. If they don't care then, they won't care after the rule either.

it only makes it hard for little kids to buy them meaning half as many immature noob hackers playing most games.

Its just another form of the system taking total control of the people.

Well i think that law is kinda good. If that would work and would be used in every country, then CS:S community would be much better :)
Btw: Heartless_ i can see that the my original forum sig is getting copied, but i don't care about it anymore so feel free to use it.

I think that this whole nation is to caught up in not offending anyone that everything is becoming censored and labled as bad. Its crap people need to be offened and get mad insted you have all theses groups runing around talking about how there view is best and the world would be a better place. But violence is something that is allways gonna be around and trying to hide in a closet somewhere isnt gonna change anything. Granted there should be a age limit on things and i do agree that you know 10 year old kids shouldnt be playing GTA but to run out and loby for laws and raitings and try to hide it all in the closet is crap. there is allways gonna be a need for violence we as a people will never escape that deep down we all love it its in are nature and thats not gonna change and people need to stop ebing so sue happy and being all offened.

How will this change anything, i buy games on the internet mostly, im 15- and well yea, whats stopping kids from getting there parent to get em online? or buy them for them?

Really you wouldn't have these laws being introduced if you didn't have these unhinged maniacs who buy a violent game and copy whatever is in the game (e.g in the game manhunt you play on a prison level, you get a hammer in which you have to kill people with it, someone killed his friend with a hammer and it was dubbed manhunt was a ''manual for murder'') same with the GTA series, it happened with the game Vice city, also with Doom 1 etc. You wouldn't have these law's or bannings on games or high ratings if you didn't have these people who have a screw loose and need something to initiate them to copy what happens in games.
