I just loaded up the new patch for first time and besides the fact that my original account seems to be gone everything was good. When i go into a game it says problems with connection and then it throws me out of the game. Iam on high speed DSL, i never had this problem before the patch. Can anyone tell me anything? Thanks.
Your firewall 'may' be causing you troubles as the BF2 .exe file has changed since the patch and maybe some ports are being blocked where there had been open pre-patch.
Alot of people are having problems with the update...some are not. I was having major issues with connection problems and staying in a game.
After doing some research and checking into a bunch of things, before you screw around with anything else TRY THIS FIRST!
At the start of the game from the Manage Your Accounts Menu:
Delete All your Accounts.
Close the game, come back in and retrieve them using your email.
You will have to reset all your settings but it's worth it!!
After doing this I had no problems with the game.
I can only assume that after the update, EA is having a conflict with the accounts that are in the data base from the old versions.
I hope this saves alot of you from going nuts like it did me. If this doesn't work for you... you are screwed and there is no hope!!! LOL (just kidding) Post your problem and we will try to help.
Ive done that open port thing and it doesnt make much of a difference to me. Leaving a firewall off is a security risk id suggest leaving it on. Another thing is even though the firewall is off the ports are disabled. I just did a port scan from www.dslreports.com and this was the results. I dont have abny problems with other games so it must be BF2. And this connection problem thing was there since the demo.
Conclusion: Healthy Setup! We could detect no interesting responses from any of the commonly probed TCP and UDP ports. It would be difficult for an attacker to know where to start without further information.
TCP ALL : FILTERED No response packet was received.
UDP ALL : FILTERED No response packet was received.
