Judge ranks on fragrate and rank rather than score?

give new comers a chance to be on the leader boards.

use fragrate and a certain rank for the scores

How is fragrate a measure of skill?

Sometimes I'll eat a snack while defending a flag, which includes sitting around a fair bit - does that make me a bad player?

What if I jump in a tank and camp a spawn point, like many do on Karkand, killing enemy after enemy? Does that make me skilled?

Fragrate isn't a measure of skill.

Variable, how would you define it then? Don’t just shoot down the idea without adding and alternative.
-How about modifiers for how you get the points, like 2x for defend kills, or 2x for demolition of armor, or .5x for tank and plane kills?

-okay I know piloting takes skill, I just hate good pilots.....

BF2 isn't alone about fragging, it's about taking points, healing people , ginving them ammo, leading them in the combat, repairing your teams stuff and vehicles.

If your system would be adapted then .

- tank whores have the highest rank
- teamplayers have to lowest rank

It would suck hard and you didn't think about your idea before posting it here I guess

There are other posts but they take a lot of digging to find. Bottom line is that I agree with the spirit of the original post - but none of this really matters since DICE won't ever change it.

This isn't TDM, its bf2, which encourages teamplay.

Go play CS:S and type in "rank" & "top10" in every 2 minutes, as though your every breath depends on that last frag...

if you can keep from getting killed by the spec ops and AT guy, then yes, you are skilled.

a lot of n00b wannabe-armor whores don't last a minute in karkand with all the AT guys, spec ops guys and even engys trying to kill them. but i've seen guys like Borobemir, Kanye West, Perseverance, TwF.Beltran, Anubis, etc. last the whole round WITHOUT getting blown up AND ending up with over 40 kills and 100 pts.!

Honestly, it's not that hard to pull off.

Do this: park your tank in a spot facing directly at a chokepoint or spawn point. Go to external cam, and wait. If you see someone running up on you, react accordingly. If you see someone walk into your firing line, jump into first person view and ice them. As a general rule, move locations every few minutes.

Most of those guys also have engineers or supply crates nearby, too.

I don't disagree that they're good at surviving in a tank, but the manner in which they get their kills is often not related to skill.

I feel that the requirments for rank should also include badges and ribbons... much like the upper sergeant ranks do... Then perhapes rank would be more a sign of skill then just a sign of how long you have played earning points....
