Reboot problem and RAM power

I'm still getting reboots about 10 seconds after joining some servers. This doesn't happen on all servers, just sometimes. I'm ready to try just about anything. If I can't come up with something tonight or tomorrow, I'm thinking about formatting and reinstalling over the weekend.

There is a thread at EA Europe where two guys say that increasing the voltage to their RAM fixed the problem of their pc rebooting in the middle of a game. They both say that raising the voltage to 2.7 or 2.8 volts fixed the problem.

Anybody have any input on this? I looked through my bios, but didn't see anything about RAM voltage. I did see these numbers, though:
VCORE 1.536V
3.3V 3.168V
5V 4.92V
12V 11.74V

MB temp 36C
CPU temp 47C

CPU fan speed 4000rpm
chassis fan 1400rpm
power fan 1600rpm (this one is red, is that bad?)

Asus K8NE Deluxe
Athlon64 3200+
1GB Corsair RAM
AIW 9800 Pro

Surely somebody here must have an idea...........

What kind of corsair do you have? Have you tried running memtest86 to check your ram? Are you getting a BSOD? If so what kind of error does it say? What does event veiwer have to say? Is it 1GB or 2x512MB?

No BSOD, it just reboots. I haven't run memtest. I'll do that now.

Can you play SP fine? have you managed to play it for a long amount of time?

Single player runs just fine. I've been able to play SP for several hours at a time. All my problems are in multiplayer. In some servers, I reboot after five or ten seconds in the game. Other servers run just fine.

Memtest is done. I let it run for almost two and a half hours. It got through seven passes with no errors. I'll start it again and let it run overnight just for kicks.

Ive got kind of the same problem
My menu doesnt look what it normally looks, on the buttons are the text MenuButton_0 or 1 or 2 ...
and thats with every button in the menu...
and if i want to join a online server i reboot after that he says hes connecting.

and i have this problem since yesterday , never had any probs, i even played with 1.03 for about 7 hours, but since yesterday it just wont work, and its real annoying because if i want to uninstall it just quits the intalling window, so after he is preloading and all, my installshield just quits.

So im also thinking of recovering my pc because i cant live like this :hmm:

Memtest ran overnight..........22 passes in around seven hours with no errors.

I don't remember exactly which Corsair memory I have. I'll open the case up tonight and let you know (unless there's an easier way to check). I do remember that it's 2x512 of PC3200.

There has to be a way to fix this. Anybody else got another suggestion??

I wasn't able to touch my computer over the weekend..........

I found a discussion about Iomega drives causing a reboot problem, so I uninstalled my Zip drive, but I'm still rebooting.

I have 2x512MB sticks of Corsair Value Select CAS 2.5, with DDRRAM voltage set to "Auto" in my bios.

Anybody have any more suggestions???

have you tried a different PSU? mine was fine until i tried to play online and i found that it wasnt giving all the power needs, the voltages were dropping causing reboots. maybe worth a look. i changed mine and now its perfect. :-)

That's about the only spare part I DON'T have just lying around the house...... I'm running an Antec SmartPower 350W psu that's about a year old. The current voltage numbers are in my original post. I don't know a bloody thing about PSUs. Do the numbers I posted look reasonable??

i was running a thermaltake 420w, its the 3 voltages - 12v,5v,3.3v each 1 will fluctuate up n down but if it spikes to low or high it could cause probs. what u need is constant power supply to the componants, the voltages uve posted are showing as below the actual rating their meant to be giving you. just my thoughts on the problem would be to see if you can try a different PSU.

11.74 V for the +12V rail when your computer hasnt even booted into windows yet is too low. Booted into windows with a software firewall and antivirus and some other background applications running should not dip your +12V line under 11.9V. First thing I would do is buy a better PSU.
