    Geforce 6 series and ATI's X

been lookin at the x700, which ranks under the 6600gt, but over the 6600

    then i saw a cheap 6600gt, 127$

made by apollo, but i cant find any good info on apollo, jus this review, which looks nice

    X700
    Core Clock: 400 MHz
    Memory Clock: 700 MHz
    Pixel Pipelines: 8
    Vertex Processors: 6
    Memory: 128 MiB GDDR1 on a 128-bit interface

    GeForce 6600 GT:

    Core Clock: 500MHz
Memory Clock: 1000MHz (900MHz for the AGP version)
    Pixel Pipelines: 8
    Number of ROPs: 4
    Vertex Processors: 3
    Memory: 128 MB/256 MB GDDR-3 memory on a 128-bit interface

seems to be the norm, both round 120$ (the radeon is made by powercolor, whic has 400mhz memory, so id rather stay away from anythin other than an official ATi card)

    Re: Geforce 6 series and ATI's X

I heard Apollo is shady. Powercolor I have heard is okay. I use a Saphire card personally, and like it.

That being said, its personal preference really. Are you running PCI-Express? Or AGP?

    For example.....

    The X700 out performs the 6600GT in Half-Life 2.

But, the 6600GT out performs the X700 in Doom 3.

Benchmarks can give you an idea, but they don't give you the real picture. I have two ATI cards and one Nvidia card, and I can say both will be good cards. Both have their plus and minuses.
