Stupid Server Rules...

I just got back from a wake island map, and I was gunner seat in an attack heli, and the pilot got shot through the glass.

Then I got banned/kicked from a server for saying 'Lol you got shot while you were in the cockpit'...

I'm assuming it picked up the word '****' and banned me right away, no warnings...

This is the stupidest server feature ever, they should at least give warnings, who cares if people swear, ffs!

dumbest rule I seen so far is 'Only XYZ clan members can be commander.'

I forget the server, its been a month or so... but theres a ranked
server out there somewhere with that rule..

what a crock. why not just run a private server..

Hell I admit, theres some crappy players out there making fools of themselves
trying to command... but a flat out rule where only clan members can
command... blah..

Servers with heavy "anti cursing" rules are generally known as Christian Servers. While this may sound like a cheap insult, there's truth behind it. A large majority of Natural Selection servers for Half-Life that were running an anti cursing mod were usually helmed by Christian groups that were running the server.

My personal opinion on this is it's very common for players in nearly any game to cuss each other out for mind game purposes and to break their concentration. Happens in nearly every game you can think of from Poker to Basketball. Almost every compeditive sport you'll see players try to get inside their opponent's head, break them down mentally with looks, insults, and distractions. Things like this are apart of the game whenever you like them or not as long as they don't go beyond merely trying to psyche out each other.

People attempting to put a lid on people cursing in an online game is just plain retarded. I've failed to understand how people running these servers for online games that are rated T to M on the box won't allow cursing at all. It's rediculous. All you will accomplish in doing is banning/kicking people that inadvertantly type an exclamitory curse word upon dying, people that curse but not directly at people, maybe a few actual trouble makers, and people that say stuff that the filter might pick up as cursing. Your server will be regulated to a little "crowd" and new people will be very difficult to come by; your server will die a slow and painful and frankly, a well deserved death.

You people who are so hellbent on cussing online still don't get it. Youre trying to compare breaking down someones concentration by "TYPING" profanity to them,(now THATS retarded!)compared to a Basketball court or sports field saying things OUT LOUD. Totally different! (As for Poker? hmmmm .. Been in many poker games & never your tactics) You think that the people you hang around or associate with who use profanity every other sentence & apparantly, YOU included, is socially exceptable. Well It is not. I bet there are WAY more people out there that think it is NOT. Its called Manners, Respect, Morality! You must have been around it so much that you think that EVERYBODY does it & it is COOL & it is exceptable. Do you even know what the T & M rating is? yea.. at least he took the time to lay it out and play some defense. Far too often I see people take a flag and just run off allowing the enemy to recap it without sweating. Then again I'm not dumb enough to turn the flag grey and still be standing beside the c4...I'll grey it..move away..watch it blow up and return to capture the flag..but I appreciate the effort

I've got our servers settings at 2 warns per kick and 2 or 3 kicks per ban for langauge...and several simple words are included. (1 in particular).

We do get several kids playing..some very good players...and don't want the poor language around.

Also...I am a Christian..but by ZERO means...religious. Haven't been to church in about 2 years. Just keep it clean on the server. Its just a game.

Pure Racial slurs are another matter...1x and its a ban.

I saw a server called ASSKICKERS or something like that. Looked cool, but then I read the server message which said "will kick for bad language, our kids play here." Oh, ASSKICKERS is NOT bad language, but something lame like dumbass is. LOL

I really wish the admin software would just XXXX out curse words rather than have people kicked for something silly like cockpit.
