Ok... for some reason, BF2 crashes to the desktop rather often on my PC. I read the sticky but since I'm at school right now, I can't post a dxdiag report, however, I know my computer like the back of my hand so if there's any pertinent information other than what I post that you guys might need, lemme know.
System Specs:
DFI NFII Ultra Infinity
AMD Athlon XP 2800+ @ 200x11 (3200+) @ 1.755v
1GB Corsair ValueSelect DDR400 (stock timings 2.5-3-3-8T)
128MB eVGA 6800 "Vanilla" (stock speeds 325/700) @ 77.72 Forceware
2x 36.7GB Western Digital Raptor 10k SATA (RAID0)
Antec TrueBlue 480W +12@28A
WinXP Pro w/ SP2
6Mbps Cable Internet Connection
Problem:
As stated, BF2 crashes all the time to the desktop without warning or error. It does, on rare occasion, reboot the computer COMPLETELY. It happens often when something highly graphical occurs on the screen, i.e - explosions, getting into a TOW viewfinder, getting into a vehicle, massive amounts of troops in my field of view, etc.
What I've Tried:
I had my GFX card overclocked, I went back to stock settings but that didn't help. I upped the voltage on my CPU from 1.725v to 1.755v but that didn't help either. I closed ALL background programs I could but that didn't help. I removed heatsink on my GPU and applied Artic Silver 5, temps went down to 50C under full load. They never go any higher than that, but that didn't help. My CPU temps never go higher than 55C so thats fine. My PC is also completely free of viruses/spyware/adware.
What I Haven't Tried:
I'm looking for your input on these ideas I have gathered.
- I haven't tried setting my memory to CL3.
- I also haven't tried upping the Vdimm on my memory because I've heard Corsair's don't really like voltage.
- I haven't tried 77.77 ForceWare because I've heard they're the same as 77.72's.
- I also haven't tried a full format/reinstall of Windows.
- I have heard of a change in the options to set the audio from "Hardware" to "Software"; I only have integrated sound on my MoBo, so I didn't know if this would affect me.
- I've heard of people changing AGP in BIOS from 8x to 4x. \
Some of these things sound a little bogus, but you guys lemme know what you think.
Any opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
