Greetings everyone!
Im just testing the water to see if theres much intrest in the style of map Im about to describe. Please keep your comments constructive, and suggestions will be taken into account, so throw them out there!
I have began preliminary work on a map that is best described as Iwo Jima (sans tunnerls) in the desert.
The primary terrain feature of the map is a massive hill atop which sits the Team 1 base, which is not capturable. The base features an airstrip with a fighter & strike aircraft, a smattering of buildings, and an open-sided hanger with a tank and an AA vehicle spawn. Theres a jeep spawn too. Note that Team 1 does not get helocopters
The hill is so large that a switch-back style road zig-zags its way down the front. There are a handful of CP's along this road, with some foot-paths as shortcuts to keep things interesting.
At the foot of the hill is a narrow plain. Opposite the hill across this plain is a canyon, which is crossed by a pair of bridges. On the other side of those bridges are three uncapturable CP's and a small heliport with uncapturable CP for Team 2
While I realize this is a bit of a vauge description, the following will describe what makes the map unique:
Team 1 will be situated (along with mounted weapons and bunkers) in such a manner as to make a static defense the sensible strategy. I am planning on actually including trenches and fighting holes at some key points. Im also experimenting with the creation of hull-down postions for vehicles.
Team 2 will begin with the advantage in terms of un-cappable CP's and posession of the maps only helocopters, as well as having pleanty of APC's and jeeps. For Team 2 to be sucessful, they will have to mount an aggressive and coordinated offense, or risk losing by attrition to Team 1's defensive guns.
I thought this map might appeal to Clans for practice as well, as a clan playing as Team 2 will find fighting pick-up players playing as Team 1 to be a challenge.
Finally, I was thinking about making the map MEC vs. China and geographically locating it in the far west of China (which is actually an arab speaking and predominantly Muslim part of the world).
I look forward to your input!
