Re: Fix to make ASE work again

I succeseded in changing the login lines in HLSW, without removing +restart 1 though.
          I just added
          Code:
          +username MYUSERNAME +playerPassword MYPASSWORD
          as additional parameters.
It works fine, and I can connect without any problems.

But if i also try to do the fix in global.con file (changing nameprefix and changing global.con to read only) I can't bypass the login screen.

Isn't there any kind og parameter, such as:
          Code:
          userPrefix MYUSERPREFIX
          ?

Cool, thanks alot that worked like a charm. I hated having to look at the ip and then manually connect.

I've been looking for a parameter for the prefix and haven't been successful.

When I tried ASE without removing +restart 1, it just bumped me into the login screen. Hm.

Oh, and I'm glad this is working for most of you. :)

Re: Fix to make ASE work again

I tried Lahma's fix, and it worked perfectly. I appreciate the work that he and Elxx have done to get ASE working with BF2 again. You guys are truly kings among men.

Oh, and a little tip for those who have more than one BF2 account and want to use ASE for each one: Create separate ASE user profiles for each user.

You can do so by clicking 'File -> New Player Profile'. Create a profile for each of your BF2 names. Now, open each profile ('File -> Open Player Profile', and it should have the name that you entered for the player profile), and edit the command line stuff with each account's unique username/password combo. Do this by pressing 'F2' and clicking on the "games" tab. Then, under "installed games", find "Battlefield 2" and add the following to whatever's in the "program location" box (of course, editing the space to fit your personal information, without brackets): +username [Username] +playerPassword [Password].

What's nice is that ASE will save the unique command line information for each profile, so if you want to use a certain profile in ASE, all you have to do is open up the user profile. I've found that this way is much faster than having to wait for the login screen to pop up at the start. This way, it takes the login information and bypasses the login altogether.

It's truly great stuff. Thanks for all the help guys.

                  *Edit*
BTW, none of my accounts use prefixes, so this may not work for you if that's the case (unless, of course, you can edit that too with a command line).

I've added three additional sections with the other fixes and have attempted to credit the authors accordingly...please tell me if there are any discrepancies. I'll add more info to this topic as I get updates and/or figure more stuff out.

I don't mean to bitch but this is the unoffical solution as posted on the ASE forums. It seems to work for everyone. What exactly isn't happening for you, i.e. where is it going wrong?

Well the fix worked for me for about a month or so, thankfully as the ingame browser is such crap. Now though, for some reason it is no longer working. Whenever I use the "connect to game" via ASE it starts loading BF2 but stops on the EA/Dice log-in screen with the Special Forces announcement. Anyone have an idea why the fix suddenly stopped working all of a sudden?

I thank All for your input:) HOWEVER ASE cranks up the game but BF2 stops to tell me I am useing the wrong password. I have tried both fixes to no avail. Now let me think HUM HUM HUM yup I'm useing the correct password. I can log on with the {^*#^&} in game browser useing {you gussed it} "mypassword".

                              Anyone have any IDEA!!

BTW I have checked all my ttyyppiinngg.

Well, errr, uhm, I got a big problem just with the BF2 starting. Even I specify the commandline well, it does always ask me about the login... :hmm:

                                "D:\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +username [Yezus]trodas +playerPassword xxxpasssxxx

What I could possibly doing wrong there???

PS. using latest ASE and BF2 v1.00 as we need to step back to get populated server, so...

PS2. even more extreme experiments to bypass the login screen and do automatic loging like this failed:

                                "D:\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +ignoreAsserts 1 +fullscreen 1 +restart 1 +username ax2@seznam.cz +playerPassword xxxpasssxxx
