...why only one map? BF2 clearly is a game which maps are very easy to make in. Already, about 50 fan made missions are probably out.

I'm not sure about that comment, the Canadian DICE team is doing the special ops expansion (the same group that made Battlefield Vietnam), our friends across the pond are responsible for the original and the updates.
