Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
This a rhetorical question of course. Obviously it shoots something far weaker. Has anyone else had this experience? Am I just dealing with lag and/or hackers? I just unlocked it, played with it a little before the 1.03 patch, and a bit afterwards.
If you think this gun is horrible, chances are you're probably using it incorrectly. It's by far one of the most accurate weapons in the game when used on single fire. As a medic, you should not charge into the front lines of a battle, rather stay on the outskirts to pick off enemies at a distance and revive fallen players if necessary. This is all obvious information for a lot of you im sure but if used corretly, the L85A1 is a great weapon. I can't tell you how many kills I get with it on Matshurr, assaulting the narrow allyways from a secure corner and covering my team as they advance. Once again, the fact that medic doesn't have body armor is quite possibly the reason behind people thinking the medic gun is so weak (many people fall first in a gunfight against assault, spec ops, or resupply soldiers). If you keep in mind these factors while playing as medic using the L85A1, I believe you will see some changes in your fortune. :)
People who dislike the L85 rarely realize that you can't play all kits the same. For example...try running up to a tank as a Support guy and drilling him with your limitless ammo. He will laugh at you. Now try it with C4...a little better result.
In the same way, you can't use the L85 as you would, say, a G36C. Try playing up to the strengths of the L85. Accuracy and a powerful scope. I like to recon my objective as I approach it, so I'm often looking through my scope on approach. Also, since the scope is so 'wide open' much like the Aimpoint of the M4, it's easier to adjust to the behavior of the enemy. Perfect example, I picked up a medic kit with an M16 and as I was shooting a guy, he went prone...he dropped totally out of view (this was some distance away) and I had to find him again to put the post of the iron sights back on him. If this had happened with my L85, reacquiring the target would have been much quicker, and in this game, that matters.
Burst fire or single shot at a distance. Rapid single shot is pretty effective. Use the excellent scope and aim for the head. Yes... AIM... you will be rewarded. Full auto is for chest to chest..expect to blow the whole mag, but you will get the guy. The question is, why did he get so close to you
I still think it's one of the better guns when mastered. Short controlled bursts at close quarters and on single shot when sniping. It's actually a good snipe weapon.

Well said. If you play the kit like a medium range sniper, chances are you will see good results. An added bonus of this approach to gameplay is that you can find a safe corner, throw down a medpack, and snipe away while your medpack heals any damage you incur.
L85 is a gun created for Wake Island. Open areas give you a great advantage over M16 users. In CQC maps like Karkand stick to the M16.
I agree. And sticking to the outskirts nice for you but that is not where you team mates are dying now is it. If you want to revive a team mate you will out of necessity be close to the action and that is where the L8 plain sucks. I have been trying to use the L8 more but I still dont like it.
Everything works well if you use it for what you are supposed to be used for..
-Assault : Balls out gung-ho weapons.. Frontlines.
-Anti-Tank: **** guns.. but great for.. well killing tanks.. duh.
-Medic: Im supprised you get anything beyond a pistol... your a medic.. drop the freaking gun and go revive people..
-Engineer: Gee.. another shotgun.. Meant to stop people who want to stop you from repairing things and laying mines..
-Sniper: I dont know how many noob-snipers go running into bases like they are in a John Woo movie.. I dont mind them.. they are a VERY easy kill.. In fact, I try to make it more of a challange and kill them with my nades or a pistol.
-Support: Stand back and give support for the rest of your team. Your gun is in inaccurate and sprays nets of bullets.. cover the guys who are doing their jobs..
I love it when people get on these forums and bitch and bitch and bitch about how they are a private when they have been playing since release.. they have 900 hours as a sniper and do nothing but try to cap.. it cracks me up :)

-engineer: all weapons are designed to stop ppl who want to stop you from doing your job?
-sniper: thats great but says nothing about how you think they should be used. are you saying the best way to use a sniper rifle is to help you get pistol badges?
-support: ppl dont hide from support because they know they wont get hit. supressing fire doesnt work when it wont hit.

Well, I certainly don't stick to the outskirts, I get in there. I kill the enemies on approach and cover teammates as they go in. Plenty of time to sprint and get a revive if needed. We're talking 20 meters here...gravy for a medic, especially since you can revive from about 1-2 meters away. 15 seconds is an eternity in this game, most encounters are settled in far less. On Mashtuur one time my squadmate died, I ran around the NE flag building and flanked the guy, shot him, then revived my teammate.
Don't get me wrong though, I will take an L85 in for close combat, I find it's much better up close doing "the dance" than an M16. Now your results may differ, but I'm pretty confident about it.
