    Aircraft targeting box on HUD

The few times I have flown I have never seen a square targeting box on the HUD but I hear people talking about it. Is it something you have to turn on? Can someone take a screen shot of it? How does it work? Do you see a box, then that is the cue to drop bombs?

    Thanks

You should see boxes around enemy vehicles and boxes with a 'x' through them for friendlies, whenever you switch to bombs (the 'F' key)

Its kinda buggy, often it shows a clear box on friendly units resulting in team kills.

Automatic - That's probably just teammates being too close to vehicles, or close enough to vehicles combined with an inability to bomb. I've never seen anything like that, and I bomb a lot.

Switch to your bombs not missles. Press "F" or use your mouse wheel to switch beetween missles and bombs. A clear Box/Triangle/Circle means BOMB. You will have to time when to drop them yourself.

You will only see the box on 2 conditions. One, you are on bomb mode. Press 2 or F to switch from missile mode to bomb mode. Two, the target must be a vehicle. No matter whether it is friendly or enemy, it will appear as a box. Always look at the box before shooting to avoid Teamkilling. Many noob pilots release the bombs any old how... You must make sure that there is no 'X' in the middle of your box.

The box will also appear for Air Defense systems, like the AA guns and such. The American aircrafts have boxes, the MEC aircrafts have circles, and the Chinese aircrafts have some sort of squiggly box.

And now for some extra bombing tips. If you are using a fighter, you gotta release your bombs earlier, cos the bombs travel faster compared to the bombers like the F-15 and such. If you are using a fighter, you must time correctly of when to release your bombs. You should use the rear chase view for the 1st few attempts to see where your bomb lands. Just remember, the higher you are, the more drift you gotta allow. The steeper your angle towards the target, the less your bomb drift; i.e If you are coming down on your target at a 80 degree angle, you gotta pull up and the release your bombs directly above him.

If you want to hunt infantry, you gotta use your eyes. See any moving dots, look at you 3d map, and confirm it is not a blue icon. If its an enemy, slow down and BOMBS AWAY! Just practise and you willbe fine! Hope this helps.
