Patching failed, 1.03

When I run patch 1.03, it says patching failed. the result is that I can run BF2 anymore (it just crashes to desktop) and I thus cant play anymore. has anyone else had this problem?

I haven't had any issues, knock on wood, although I just uninstalled the game and did a fresh install and patched to 1.03.

Check your RAM, Memtest-86.

Hard drive fragged?

Also, did you install in a different directory than default? I hear it doesn't work then.

EDIT: The guide is for patch 1.02 but works fine if you do the same with the 1.03 patch.
