How long does patching take anyway?

I've been sitting here for about 20 minutes, and nothing at all is happening besides "Patching, please wait..."

Is there something I can do, or does it really just take forever?

it takes a while.. but not that long.. it depends on ur pc.. just wait

My PC is pretty fast, 3.2Ghz, I'd assume it'd be on the faster end of everything.

If you got that far, it should work...just give it time.

Otherwise, what is the exact file size of the patch you downloaded?

Have you installed BF2 to a directory other than the default?

The patch is 179,789,735 bytes, and BF2 is in the D: drive, would that affect anything?

You may have to install the patch manually..

i.e. after you have double-clicked the .exe file and it comes up with the InstallShield wizard, go Start->Run->%temp%

Then look for the new folder that was just created.

Then copy and paste the contents of that folder to a separate directory. Those are the decompressed patch files.

There should be a patch.exe or setup.exe that you can run in there.

Installing BF2 to a directory other than default caused problems for people in v1.02 and it looks to be the same case with v1.03.

I have BF2 installed to my D drive but I have not had this problem for some reason.

EDIT: btw, 179,789,735 bytes is the right size, so that's ok.

Took me a while to patch, but it was worth it.

Ok that worked. Now when I open the game I get stuff that says like TITLE_push and BUTTON_open BUTTON_close for pretty much any sort of button. When I try to click on multiplayer it just crashes. When it was patching it said "OLD FILE NOT FOUND" quite often as well, I just reinstalled this game today to patch it. I'm a bit confused now.

I have a 3.2ghz p4, 2 gigs of ram... and it took 2-3 mins.

This happened to people sometimes when they were using blackmarket or foreign language versions...

Are you using the ENGLISH RETAIL storebought release?

If so, sounds like a complete re-install is on order...again...
