Got 1.03 today, and when I got in my T-90 and began to turn my turret I thought a buggy was nearby...or that my sound was crapping out. This was just the beginning...the turret on the APC sucks as well, not to mention the jeep sounds were better. These were just the beginning of my realizations that we waited...how many months?...for another half-done job.
(complains follow, so skip over the following if you don't want to hear what I think on the still broken game :p)

Battlefield 2™ Server v1.03
ReadMe File
September 6th 2005
OK, in the ReadMe file in my BF2 folder, why in the heck does this say September 6th? Is this outdated or are they just that apathetic toward their change logs? Or were we just made to wait for another month while they released more SF junk?
NEW FEATURES
- Account Login Welcome Screen
After you login to an online account, a message appears that
contains BF2 news and information which updates periodically.
This is blank? Not to mention annoying, please tell me this can be turned off...
- Improvements to in-game HUD / Map
* The minimap zoom level now changes dynamically depending on the
type of vehicle you are in. If you zoom in or out manually, that
zoom level is remembered for that vehicle type next time you use
it.
I haven't experienced one instance in which this zoom level is remembered. I now have the most frustrating time trying to fight the mini-map, while this wasn't even a problem before the patch. What was wrong with it before?
GAMEPLAY CHANGES
- Only 1 player in a vehicle will get credit for or speed up capturing
a flag at a CP. The other passengers must exit the vehicle to increase
the speed of capture or receive capture score.
Ruined a beautiful feature of BF2...very sad the game is becoming even more shallow than it was.
- Commanders no longer accrue a TK when artillery hits
teammates.
You're kidding me, right? If a commander is dumb enough to arty teammates, they deserve to be punished. If teammates are there, help them out, then arty the place if they die. This is another feature that destroys and learning curve in the game that's left.
- Singleplayer enemies use the knife more effectively.
They spent all this time to make sure single player enemies use knives better? You're kidding me, right?
- New engine sounds for the T98 tank.
- New engine sounds for the China/MEC light jeep.
- New cannon sounds on APCs.
The only one of these I remotely like is the cannon sounds on the APC. The others detract from the game and sound more like another vehicle coming at you, or some strange synthesizer noise on a loop.
BUG FIXES
- Fixed physics of vehicles against soldiers so that soldiers are not
killed so easily by moving vehicles.
Wow, now instead of dying from a vehicle moving at .001MPh, you can now move the vehicle at .01MPh before dying! Honestly, this change isn't even noticeable. You bump someone, they still die.
- Added turret movement sounds to several vehicles.
And they suck?
- Changed automatic TK banning to ban by cd-key instead of IP address
Great, instead of a step in the direction of solving the already problematic TK punish system, it's being enforced in it's current, horrific, state.
- Set some wheels on jets and helpcopters to stronger armor to prevent
them from being destroyed instantly by AT missiles.
This is a bug FIX? Looks more like adding a bug. If an AT missile hits a jet or helo anywhere, it should take it to critical health at least, if not kill it.
- Changed the Commo-rose behavior so that player does not leave crouch
when using it.
Hey, give us the Fuction buttons back, then you won't have any problems.
- Improved PLAY NOW functionality.
Does anyone even USE this?
- Fixed an issue allowing color changes in player name text.
A mildly entertaining thing, watching people still try to use this to get noticed.
- When you click on a server in the server browser, the information
from that server is updated to be more accurate.
That's a lie, plain and simple. It's still broken, it still doesn't update anytime shorter than 10 minutes, and by the time you get in everyone already has 30 more points or more than they had in the server browser.
- Improved the behavior of AA missiles when locked on an enemy.
Not even noticeable. They still miss when they obviously shouldn't, and are still useless.
- Fixed an issue causing some soldier & vehicle control keys to be used
for in-game menus.
Wow, took them this long after the release to think of that one...
- Added new soldier artwork in BFHQ
So many bugs, and they want us to have better picture of the soldiers...riiiight...
