patch 1.03 cant install, "cant find install file"

I have downloaded the patch twice from two different locations (ea and gamespot) and both are doing the same thing. Everytime i hit the executible it says preparing the instal wizard and then errors out and says can't find the instal file. Now i can find the instal file myself, but there is no way to direct it to go there.

i have bf2 installed on the OS drive, however i have it installed in a "games" file on the root of c and not in the program file. I had no problems with patch 2. (i have found several people who say they dont have it in the default location and had no problems).

I guess i may have to reinstall it, but i really like keeping my files organized. But if i do, anyone know what file to copy so i dont have to re-map my keys?
Any ideas?

when u uninstall it (like i had to) do not delete your profiles. they are saved in your my documents folder if you want to back them up. the patch had some glitched when i installed, but all it took was reinstalling the game and not deleting the profiles and i was up and running like a champ. i must say i love my newly aquired guns.

Hmph...Isn't there any other way than re-install to this issue? Damn I hate re-installing...

i think i may have found the solution to this, but i am at work and will try it when i get home...

Start the patch ... select language .. THEN DO NOTHING WITH THE PATCH PROG.
Go to ..\Local Settings\Temp (clear it before starting the patch) .. copy all files around the patch.exe into your Battlefield directory .. start patch.exe .. worked for me!

Does it mean delete EVERYTHING in the Temp folder?
