problem on friends computer

My buddy downloaded the 1.03 patch earlyer today from the ea file server, so he trys to install it but it says theres not enough space on his hard drive to install it, it says he needs a minium of 1600MB or more, something like that, what I thought was weard is it said 1600MB, when the patch is 171MB, he dubble clicks the patch installer and this message comes up before he clicks next or anything, hes redownloading the patch from the ea server again as we speek, so hopfully it will be fixed, his original patch download was the correct size so I hope its not on his end, I checked the hard drive and he has 60gigs left so Iam not sure whats going on, so well see if the new dl fixes it.

Yes, I have had lots of my friends with similar issues...re-downloading helped.

With all of the high traffic yesterday, a lot of downloads were finishing as incomplete.

Remember..the patch should be 175 MB in size. 175,576 KB to be precise.

If it isn't..you need to re-download.

EA says on there site 171mb

On your hard drive, under Windows XP, it will show as 175,576 KB.

Plus..how often has EA actually been right about anything?

No, the patch is 171MB which is 175,576 KB or 179,789,735 bytes
Firefox reads it as 175MB though because of a counting error in firefox's download manager, it simply takes the 175 part, calls it 175MB and leaves it at that. :)

There needs to be 1600MB of free space available on the system drive C: where Windows is located, it uses this space during installation of patch not for saving the install file.

Take a look in the other threads here in Client Support, e.g.

There is listed a number of ways to free harddrive space from the system partition, read whole thread as the one linked to neowin should be used as last resort IMO, as it suggest to remove from from within Windows own files.
