ya for me. everyone i see has higher ranks but mine still shows corporal and didnt give me my unlocks...

Well, I went in a game to test the patch, did only one round, got 3 new ranks. I was listed as a Gunnery Sergant in-game, but BFHQ still hasn't updated since, and I'm still @ Corporal, and no unlocks showing up.

About the icons, what do you mean they should be fixed?

Give it some time. The EA serve took an hour or so to update my stats and give me my unlocks.

I think the original poster is trying to say the icons are a little large and ungainly on the ingame leaderboard thing. It all looks a little cramped.

In-game, when you press tab, the icons for the higher ranks look weird and bloated because they can't fit anymore stripes in.

This whole up the ranks things sucks alot of ass. Its hard to tell whos the good player and whos the bad players now because we all look the same. It is retarded and I can honestly say i wish it went back to the way it was. where noobs were lance corporal and 1337 guys were staff sergeants.

Higher ranks are inversely proportionate to good looks and/or athletism. If you have a really high rank, you are pale or otherwise a fugly person, because you play too much. And from what I've witnessed (in disgust), this is mostly true.
