    Re: CTD after 1.03

I did the same, but for me it was because the patcher decided it wanted 1600 mb free on my systemroot ( C: ) even though my temp folder is located on a drive with 160 gb free. Well, not everyone can care about trivial things suchs as %TMP%. Maybe something goes wrong if you patch it manually.

If that is the case, BF2 just stopped working for all those that does nto have 1600 mb free on their systemroot drives, and for all those that can't run due to "patching failed".

I also noticed the flickering. Thing is, I don't have any refreshrate override or similar. I also tried reinstalling my gfx driver, and my monitor driver. Same result still.

Well, I just ran the patch again and everything runs fine now. I can play the game again.

        try running BF2.exe +fullscreen 0

check the version. maybe the patching is wrong... don't now why.

As of an hour ago, mine works. The maddening part about it is, i did nothing different than any of you, or nothing different than what i was doin until it suddently came to life.
Fresh install, reboot, patch=good. at least after the first couple of times. Good luck to everyone else having trouble.

                  Re: CTD after 1.03

I also had "ONE" initial CTD (crash to desktop) when first opening the game after I installed the 1.03 patch but restarted the game and no problems.
IMHO it's an issue with the 1.02 patch and installing the 1.03 over the 1.02 as it resets some of the key bindings to default, but not all (no big deal).

There has been no response from EA as to whether the 1.03 patch should be a stand alone patch (1.03 installed only) also there is no info in the patch "readme" file.

I am advising those that are having issues that they should uninstall the game PB & Patches (old 1.01 + 1.02) and reinstall & re-download the patch as per my instructions.
Some peeps are doing some testing for me.

I have installed 1.0, put the latest on top. Same result.
I have installed 1.01, put the latest on top. Same result.
I have installed 1.02 +1.01, put the latest on top. Same result.

Tried the above with manual PB update. Same result.

                        Re: CTD after 1.03

                        ok, found the solution.

do the trick about using the patch.exe but define the path to your bf2 installation.

                        c:\docs..blabla\patch.exe "c:\games\battlefield 2"

now the patch is applying perfectly. going to test the game...

                        edit: ok, it works. :)

meetra: If you had bothered to read the posts in this thread you would have realized that
the name of this thread, containing the numbers "1.03", implies that we have already patched our games in a manner similar to yours.

Not sure about this, but what may have worked for me was deleting the Battlefield 2 DIR in My Documents, after choosing to delete everything in the uninstallation process (Profiles, Server configs, Screenshots). Installed again, patched straight to 1.03 and it worked. Good luck.

Did that aswell. Tried all the scenarios with and without profiles.

And yes, spent some time with this now :)

I was getting a black-screen then CTD but was not seeing the logo though after I tried to install the patch by "hacking" the files onto the game drive. After I reinstalled the game (1.0) isntalled 1.03 differently on top of it, didn't get problems.
