Don't want the Welcome screen? Delete it.

    Go to...

    C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Movies

    and delete the file...

    w1elcome.bik

    No more annoying welcome screen.

Do you honestly think EA is going to provide you that pertinent of information that you won't already know about? (Especially if you browse these forums all the time like half of us.)

      Actually just rename the directory:

      C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Movies

      to something like:

      C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Movies.bak

BF2 now uses about 350MB less RAM.

Pretty old news actually, and go to that tweakguides site to page 7 (I think) to get a pretty replacement for the menu BG after you delete all the movies. (made by me roflroflrolf)

350MB less RAM? Really? So assuming that's correct then one should be able to jack up the visual effects in the game shouldn't they? Has anyone tried this? And will messing with this file cause any problems with Punkbuster?

Done it. I can now have a higher screen resolution because of it.
