every gamer takes the replayability, story, unlockables and what have you, and equates that to the quality of a game. im sure you do it, as just like anyone else... im sure youd say beating a game in an hour is kinda disapointing when you spent 50 bucks on it.
Ranks are a factor in replayability. so if you want every unlock in your first few days of playing.... im gunna call that hipocritical. esentially youve gvien up a big goal in playing the game and decreased the "hours of play", all because you dont want to commit the time.

Ranks are skill based... i think before you complain about a system... you should first learn how that system works. then your free to criticize it.
rank is your global score... basically thats your final score per round. if i have more gold, silver and bronze metals then you, ive progressed through the ranks much faster then you (on the broad scale.. cheeting, padding, whoring aside). making my rank to corp. within, say 24 hours vs your 48 (hours may not be realisitic, im just pickin numbers to make the point).
If you chose to play the game for a year... im quite certain no matter how much you suck, and how slowly you progress through the ranks... youll get to a descent rank warranting you two or three unlocks with 4 or 5 more to go. Hardly a bad thing as the game still offers you a reason to play it.

the average player always had something to look forward to... you just werent happy with how far forward you had to look. now, if ranks were actually added, ill assume theres more ranks then there is unlockables. so eventually ranks are gunna be meaningless, either inbetween ranks that open a weapon, or all at the end... who cares.

No, actually us casual players were not frustrated with how far forward we had to look, but rather the fact that we'd NEVER unlock more than 3 weapons. The fact is that it would take years of daily play to get to the highest rank for most of us. It's unreasonable to assume that most of us will even care about this game a few years from now.

Ok, seriously. Go open a dictionary sometime. Hipocritical doesnt mean what you think it does. I havent complained about the longevity of the game and then been happy about getting rewards easier. Dont put words in my mouth.

I get that you think it damages the long term playability of the game. Fine. Would you still play the game if there were no ranks or unlocks? Probably. I know I would. You're just upset because you precieve us getting rewards that you spent a long time on. Besides it looks like they have created officer ranks for the hard core players. So what are you complaining about again?

About ranks being skill based. The majority of them are absolutely not skill based. All you need is points. You can be getting 1 point around, but if you played long enough you'd get the rank. I know how they work. Its strictly time based. I dont even buy better players ranking quicker that much. There are plenty of people with no mentionable skills getting loads of points off the blackhawks. Those players ranked up quickly all for riding around in the back and aiming a wrench at the floor. A monkey could do that.

If you think the average player had much to look forward to in terms of ranks before you are severely mistaken. How long to you think an average player plays a given game? A month or two? That probably generous. Go and look up the percentage of people that got above 10500pts. (2nd unlock previously) Last time I looked it was substantially less than 10% of all players. And we are months past launch. Long enough that lots of people will have moved on to other games.

I agree with the thread starter , It is nice to be able to get Ranks quicker (Even though I dont play it online much if any hehe) It's worth it just to see the reponses you get from the whiners who object to it hehe... Must be a ego thing for them "Ooo look at me everyone I AM THE LEET HIGH RANKER HERE" sort of thing I guess hehe .

Ranks mean squat to me though really, It's all about Fun and enjoying yourself while playing online

i know what hipocritical means, i dont need to look it up thank you... its more likely that im just not explaining it in a way you can get. you most certainly did complain that your not getting reward quick enough.... and that your happy the patch changed that. would you rather deny the fact that the words i put in your mouth are untrue, and that you would be happy beating a game in an hour, or rather a couple of days?

quite honestly... once all ranks are meaningless... and unlocks are all open, id more likely stop playing the game, and grow tired of it after a few weeks. Ranks, Stats, progression, thats what keeps me here, and its what didnt keep me playing 1942. ida played the game... but it would have been short lived. i come from an rpg background and have been known to stick with a game for over a year now.

BF2 is coming out with their expansion awfully quick... so its an oditiy... however most games come out with expansions closer to a year after the origionals release. a year, maybe two is not unreasonable.

You have to remember some of us actually have lives. We have jobs and families and other obligations. Some of us having been playing since release but just dont have the luxury of sitting down for hours on end every day. Some of us dont black hawk whore and farm for our ranks. We got them the old fashioned way. Shooting people and capping flags on foot.

The rank patch is a godsend to the average player. Those of you whining because you can play 24/7 while the rest of us cant. Well, I think you know where you can shove it.

Actually, ranks are more time-based than skill based, due to the fact that it takes so many points to acrue new ranks. I doubt in the long run, your 50 points in a server vs. my 25 in that same server will make an insane difference as to who ranks up first.

Yeah, if that happened every game, it would. But it wouldn't matter by enough so that they would warrent NOT changing it.

Another reason the easier ranks/unlocks is good as that it might promote a little more gameplay on pubs. I know myself I would be torn between doing something that will help my side win the map (like playing defense) but typically not many points or running around point whoring as much I can to someday get another unlock, heh.

I think that these tweaks to the ranking system is the best thing that could be done. It should have been this way from the start. People would have been more likely to play as a team instead of sitting in the corner with their butt buddy friends & Pad Points. I played 2 maps since the patch & I was so overwhelmed at the fact that people were playing to help the team. (picking up passengers, Running up to secure flags with more then one person to secure the area. It was great to see the Transports coming in ... Dropping people out with Guns Blazing. It looked like Total HELL Warfare to me. Keep up the good work Men! Besides ... We all know that the SF expansion will have more ranks also. The good thing about people ranking up & getting a few more unlocks is the fact that more & more kits dropped by dead guys will contain an unlocked weapon.. Good Deal!!

Oh BTW! How Cool do the MEC jeeps sound now .... LMAO Did they drop a Hemi in them ?

Complaining that I dont get rewards quick enough and then being happy the patch changed that are consistant views. Therefore NOT hipocritical. Again. Look at a dictionary.

As for ranks. I have a whopping 6700pts. Yah not that much. It places me 115,577 out of 1,112,203. That means slightly more than 10% of people have more points than me. That would make the number of people with 10500 points (and 2 unlocks previously) significantly less than 10%. So you were saying.......?

I have 5,300 ish point's and it seemed like it has taken forever to get there, when i see people like Blazin.UK and >broggi< etc with like 140,000 point's im confused.
