To all the people whining about ranks.

You have to remember some of us actually have lives. We have jobs and families and other obligations. Some of us having been playing since release but just dont have the luxury of sitting down for hours on end every day. Some of us dont black hawk whore and farm for our ranks. We got them the old fashioned way. Shooting people and capping flags on foot.

The rank patch is a godsend to the average player. Those of you whining because you can play 24/7 while the rest of us cant. Well, I think you know where you can shove it.

Welcome to the forum. I think you post is very amusing for a couple of different reasons.

        1. You are envious of people who have higher ranks due to the fact that they can play alot.
        2. You excuse the fact that you do not have a higher rank because you have a life.
        3. You actually think that making rank in Battlefield 2 is fulfilling to your life.

I have a wife and kid, I work full time, I go to school full time, and I could not care less about what rank I have. I will never make a rank higher because I do not want to devote the time to achieve it. I play for fun. It is a game.

              @ threatstarter

look if people wanna play let em play, if they wanna play alot... let em, and playing alot doesnt mean you dont have a life, i play 4 hours a day, go to school, work, sport (soccermatches an practice) and go out every weekend, i sleep barelt though but ok.

Re: To all the people whining about ranks.

1)Not really envious of people playing lots. But Ive seen plenty comments on how They've cheapened the rank system for all the n00bs. Just pointing out that we're not all n00bs and just have other things in our lives. Since rank is largely a time based thing and not a skill based thing I dont really see where people get off putting people down for not having the massive amount of time it takes to get 10's of thousands of points.
                2) Well, its true. If I didnt have a life, Id be playing more and therefore have a higher rank. Its not like its based on kill to death ratio or anything. Thats pretty simple math.
                3) No really. But Id like to try the other unlocks and given the previous rank structure there is no way an average player could hope to unlock more than about 2. I know lots of good gamers and its the same for all of them that have families, etc.

Re: To all the people whining about ranks.

                  LOL, your a D**K.

The hardcore players (thats the 24/7 players to you) dont wish to see everyone running around with a high ranked account, thus making rank meaningless... the occasional player wants everything the game has to offer, as soon as possible, and argues that rank *is* meaningless.

Rank is another name for "hours of gameplay" . BF2 is not a singleplayer story mode game, allowing you to sit down and work your way through it. Which coincidently, everyone (Hardcore and occasional players) uses this to equate worth to the specific game(the story based one). the story based game gives you what... 30, 40, in some cases 50+ hours of play before you completely finish the game?? here BF2 gives you well over that.... and hipocritical ramblings and complaints that the "occasional" player keeps spewing out are nothing more then just that... Hipocritical.

here EA and Dice offer us a game that gives you something to goal towards, even after the game is considered "old" and you are complaining its "not fair" as if the unlocks really mean that much.

I'm a bit behind so basically EA have changed Ranked boundries and added more? If so Great! There are still likely to be high and hard ranks at the top for the "Gamers" and smaller intervals for the rest of us!

I just thought the ranks were screwed up, got two promotions, just for killing two people :S

Okay first off there are still plenty of higher ranks that hardcore players can achieve. Ranks that the casual player will never get. All it means is that the average player actually has something to shoot for. How does that cheapen your experience? Ok so now Im a staff sergeant instead of a corpreal. Hard core players will STILL have higher ranks.

2nd how the hell is what Im saying hipocritial? Do you even know the meaning of that word? If you catch me turning around and bashing people lower than me in rank for having it too easy, talk to me then.

And again... you talk about ea giving us something to look foreward to. You're right. The average player finally has something within their reach. But thats not what you were going after Im sure.

Lets get this straight. Rank does not mean you are elite, or better than anyone. It means you have more free time. Whining about people gaining ranks while you gain the same benefit is both elitist and Hipocritical (the proper use of the word.)

Re: To all the people whining about ranks.

                        ok hipocritical.
every gamer takes the replayability, story, unlockables and what have you, and equates that to the quality of a game. im sure you do it, as just like anyone else... im sure youd say beating a game in an hour is kinda disapointing when you spent 50 bucks on it.
Ranks are a factor in replayability. so if you want every unlock in your first few days of playing.... im gunna call that hipocritical. esentially youve gvien up a big goal in playing the game and decreased the "hours of play", all because you dont want to commit the time.

Ranks are skill based... i think before you complain about a system... you should first learn how that system works. then your free to criticize it.
rank is your global score... basically thats your final score per round. if i have more gold, silver and bronze metals then you, ive progressed through the ranks much faster then you (on the broad scale.. cheeting, padding, whoring aside). making my rank to corp. within, say 24 hours vs your 48 (hours may not be realisitic, im just pickin numbers to make the point).
If you chose to play the game for a year... im quite certain no matter how much you suck, and how slowly you progress through the ranks... youll get to a descent rank warranting you two or three unlocks with 4 or 5 more to go. Hardly a bad thing as the game still offers you a reason to play it.

the average player always had something to look forward to... you just werent happy with how far forward you had to look. now, if ranks were actually added, ill assume theres more ranks then there is unlockables. so eventually ranks are gunna be meaningless, either inbetween ranks that open a weapon, or all at the end... who cares.

I'm actually PROUD not to have 300+ hours on BF2, I've only got around 50. Thats because I go out & socialise :)

well i only got about 150... since owning the game (july 26th) thats prolly just over 50 a month, which again is just over 13 a week, and again just over 2 a night.... thats hardly anti social

I think its a great move...1942 had people that played just as much and had nothing to do with ranks/unlocks. Its going to get a lot of people more into the game for the next while which leads in the SF expansion.
