- Nickname Prefix

You can add a 6-character prefix (such as a clan tag) to your
account nickname which will be displayed in-game next to your
nametag in the score menu, in game messages, and above your player
in the game world.

* This prefix does not change your account name or statistic
information (e.g. the prefix does not appear next to your name
on the leaderboards).
* You can change this prefix at any time at the account login
menu.

Why then have a "clan tag" if it won't even show your CLAN tag next to your name in the leaderboard???

Because "clan" is a team orientated concept, and scores and leader boards are personal gratification, and are largely have nothing to do with teams.
There’s no "I" in team, so it would make no sense for there to be individual clan members on something that has to do with what an individual bf2 player has achieved. :p :p :p

They should have made it like America's Army where you could change your name all you want, but you could only do it once in 24 hours.

Does anyone think that this "variable" clan tag system will lead to a lot of fakers? I mean, it won't be hard for some idiots to stick [mx] in front of their name on the mx server and pretend to be a server admin and start playing God, threatening to ban people etc... Unless there are any real admins about (and there never seem to be) no-one will be any the wiser...

It was never a big problem in bf1942/Bf;v where you coud change your username while ingame, i doubt itll be in BF2.

If some tard starts saying he will ban you for taking his chopper.. take the chance, if you get banned, that server sucked anyways, if you dont get banned, all is cool. Its a win win situation.

its a non-answer to a real question. the game was billed as being clan friendly. how does clan friendly equate to only being able to add a tag 4-5months later.

tags do matter in the boards. how can clans be on the boards if everybody is billed as an individual? you gonna get on ase and track the players down to join their server to find out what clan they are in?
ppl are generally proud of their clan. being on the boards isnt just about how good you are, its how good your clan is by association.

i think im gonna do my thesis on fanbois and the way they can spin crap like a politician but only when it comes to defending their hero.

frankly, leaderboard are fine, and clans are great.
My complaints are where we should be able to change are whole name, or part of it. Like you get a max. of 3 times to change your name, after that, your stuck with it.

many would like to alter their original name. but no, EA is too lazy to have a real member system, that they created a fully automated signup system inwich they can't change accounts, unless.....they actually did some work lol.
