Re: Using Military Tatics in Battlefield 2

I don't know if this have been told.. but alright.

If you're a group of 4-10 (or more) people in an open area fighting the enemy.
Don't freak around running and trying to find a hiding place...

    Let's say you're 8 people.
    Do this:

2 starts advancing (forward, duh) while 6 are proned and giving them covering fire, the best is if it's two supports.

Then 2-4 starts advancing and the 2 who advanced before can give THEM covering fire.

The 2 who's left will make a advance to the support so they later can advance forward - past the 2-4 who advanced past the support... ehh, you get the idea.

    Like this:

. . . . <- These are the four who advanced past the supports.

    . . <- The supports.
. . <- The once who advanced to the supports.

And after the seconde advance of the supports.

. . <- The supports takes the lead.

    . . . . <- The four takes the second place.

. . <- The two are left at the last place again.

And then they do this over and over again, probaly getting some kills and forcing the enemy to an retreat.

This is and will always be an good military tactic!

    Setup would be:

    2 supports.
4 assaults or 2 assaults and 2 medics.
2 snipers would be best, aight? But OK with assaults or whatever.

Try this out, it will work alright, but a tip: Always keep an anti-tank in your squad, otherwise you're lost when a tank comes... BOM, dead.

dont know if this is one, but works for me...when you see an enemy that hasent seen you, use common sence stealth, dont just open fire to give your self up, creep up and stab

I have read these posts with interest and having first hand real combat expirience I can clarify that all these are proven tatics, be it Rural or Urban fighting scenerios. However so far in the game I have yet to see any teamwork everyone I have played with seems to want to up their scores, not play as a team and succeed together. The effect of winning when the whole Team is successful is so satisfying you want to keep at it. NO "I" in Team.

Gonna try to describe a method used by the SAS to desengage an larger enemy force while still maximizing return fire.

As the SAS usually fight in squads of 4, they can sometimes find themselves very heavily outnumbered, and as such, they need to be able to disengage the enemy effectively, rather than just turning and running away. I forgot whether there is a name for this technique or not, but I'll try to explain as effectively as a can.

When moving over ground the SAS squad will move in a column:

            Code:
            O (enemy)

            x(a)

            x(b)

            x(c)

            x(d)
If the point man comes in contact with the enemy he will immediately go prone and return fire. Obviously the rest of the squad will realise somethings wrong and do the same, however, before going prone they will fan out.

            Code:
            O (enemy)

            x(a)
                  x(b)
                         x(c)
                                x(d)
After the squad is in position, point man will move to the rear, followed by more shooting, and then eventually 'b', more shooting and then 'c' etc, until they have disengaged, hopefully with everyone alive.

            Code:
            O (enemy)

                  x(b)
                         x(c)
                                x(d)
                                       x(a)
I have absoultely no idea whether this would be of anyone use in Battlefield 2. I guess it could work if you have a group of people interseted in killing as many people as possible and still staying alive.

I should add here, that this technique is intended for pretty long distances, say 50m or more from the enemy. Grenades could really spoil the point man's day

Re: Using Military Tatics in Battlefield 2

It's best to stick to the basics. If you're using tactics from the SAS, etc., it won't do much good, since most BF2 players do not have the same level of situational awareness, or unit cohesion to pull off those procedures.

The simplest and most effective tactic is fix-and-flank. In a squad of 6, divide into two teams of 2 and 4. The team of 2 should be the Assault or Spec Ops class. The team of 4 should include the squad leader, and consist of Support x 2, AT, and Medic. Upon contact with enemy infantry, the team of 4 lays down suppressive fire, while the team of 2 flanks the enemy using concealed routes. It can also work against lightly amoured vehicles.

                Tactics and being squad leader:
                1) Lead from the front. Never ask a squadmate to do something you haven't done first.
                2) ASK, don't order. If your squad see's you've got a system that works and you're in control of your situation, they'll gladly respond to requests to help out figuring you're the Engine of a Gravy-train. Example: After saving a squadie's butt by killing, say, 3 baddies, you might VOIP, "squaddiename, would you mind covering our 9 O'Clock? I'll advance and C4 that armor." The guy see's you've got skill, is grateful, and knows you're just asking for assistance in completing a task with higher personal risk than what is requested of him. If he's got the C4 and you don't, volunteer to make yourself a distraction so he can sneak up on the armor.
                3) Look after your squad. Deploy medic kits/ammo generously, keep with them, run to support them if they're under fire. Request UAV, Supplies, and Arty to give your squad eyes, equipment, and escape from hairy situations.
                4) Reward good work, even if only verbally. Use your VOIP to thank squadmates for covering fire or congradulate them on good kills. Also compliment the team as a whole on teamwork to keep unit integrity instead of jealousy/competition.

before running past a corner Kneel and look first

lol omg i dont know how many times ive looked first and the guys next to me just keep running and get blown away by a waiting tank or heavy veihicle mounted machine gun. take a look and watch how many people just never look and run right by enemys who are prone

I haven't tried this, but it might work pretty well. Split up 6 player squads into two smaller 3 man squads. One player takes the second squad while the squad leader gets the first. Use teamspeak to plan flanking manuvers etc.

Use cover. Im normaly the best or the second to best squad. Don't just run into a tank and die. If you see a tank up ahed. Spot it and get on your stomache. Wait for it to pass then move on. If its getting to close to a flag camp the flag. Let the tank take it. Then clear the aria of spawning enimes and cap the flag!

Works every time. I use it when I am squad leader. Also to all the other squad leaders out there. Don't rush in. If you die the hole squad is ****ed. Always send one or two men in. Then you go in if its clear. If you get get caught into a sitation make sure you can take the the oposing team. If not fall back! Thats right I said it fall back! No one ever does it. When you can't be beat fall back to another squad and then move foward angain and give them hell.

playing dead works well. i actually do that quite a bit. if i'm playing anti-tank and i see my apc starts taking fire from a tank, i'll get out, drop down, wait for the apc to get wasted, and then fire on the tank -- usually it's damaged enough that it goes on the first shot.

I've played against a couple of squads that have used military tactics and it was amazing to see how much ass they kicked. they had us running around in circles.

                          Its so SIMPLE

                          1. Be alert, the number of times i've died while eating nachos or toast, etc... arghhh.
                          2. As mentioned above -Teamwork is the key, if your team is losing a lot, mutiny, and organise the squads.
                          3. The most important (at least i regard it to be)=

SPOT BEFORE YOU SHOOT! (it only takes a snap-second and support fire usually follows)

if you die by a sniper example and you've seen him but decided to take him out yourself first, theres a 50-50 chance you'll die (unless he's a noob).
This also works well with aircraft, SPOT BEFORE YOU HIDE (eg. A plane comes in to bomb your squad and what do you do? Run? or SPOT HIM so everyone has a chance?)

                            just a theory

i saw a contrail in the sky. UAvs in the sky try to shoot them and get back to me.

this would be good if people actaully used tactics in games, except BF2 cause i have seen tactics and teamwork used in this game but say CSS people dont use tactics and it sux, it good cause people who play BF2 are soldiers aswell so they actaully do real life tactics BF2 is a great game. and some great tactics in this thread, nice thinking my fellow Tacticians some great ideas
