Like how you can see the rear or front in vehicles. Very useful for aircraft.

Press c to cycle through views of your char. Very useful when climbing up ladders since you can check for claymores since 3rd person shows the top of the building.

back in the old BF1942 days the mod DC you could see chase view or 3rd man view will walking normal

....Go into the game, and while you're standing still OR RUNNING press c and you'll go to 3rd person view. I just said one application of the use.
