    After 10 minutes-screen goes black-comp wont respond

    Please help!!

I've had the game for 2 months now-This problem has just started over a week ago.

I will be on a 16, 32 or 64 server and I can play fine for about 10 minutes.
Then the screen goes black and the computer will lock up. ctrl alt delete wont help. I have to press the comp shut off button to restart the computer.
Then another 10 minutes goes by and the same thing happens. Please note that it used to run fine.

I updated the drivers and ran a full virus scan 4 times with no problems. I shut off my firewall and the same thing happens.

Please help as this really is frustrating.

    HP -amd athlon XP 2400+
    768 RAM
    256MB nvidia 6600 video card.

Sounds like an overheating problem to me. Did you build this machine or is it pre-built?

prebuilt--bought it from best buy. The comp don't shut off --and it only happens during bf2.

      Thanks for your help

BF2 is very demanding and may be causing your PC to overheat. Try running 3Dmark05 for a while and see if you get the same problem. Click the link and download Speedfan 4.26 it will give you temps and help us aid you better
LM75, pwm, digital temperature sensor, digital sensor, i2c, smbus, 2-wire, digital, analog, speedfan, computer, hardware monitor, fan control, voltages, fan, rpm, hard disk, system management bus, smart, change fan speed, windows 8, scsi, raid, 3ware, lsi, areca, matrix raid

Click the blue hypertext "Speedfan 4.26" and save it to disk then install and run the program

having the same problem here as well.
I ran 3Dmark(nice demo btw) and had no crashes
          Temps stay stable around 75-80c
This problem only cropped about a week or 2 ago. Used to be with one server only and now it has moved to other servers I play on.

Running a 500w power supply that is less that 6 months old so I am hoping thats not the problem

3D Mark will most likely not crash your computer, it just benchmarks it.

It sounds like your graphics card is overheating. What computer do you have? What video card is it?

I have the same thing, but with other games and stuff too.
It happens both with my old AND new PC..so I have no idea what could cause it :/

Airflow......check if air is getting in to the computer and coming out the right way... If theres bad airflow it could really screw things up.

Mate, that is way too hot. Not only will this give you performance issues, it will also limit the life of your components. Might be time for a nice cool case & a couple of extra fans to go with your shiny new psu.

I've also just bought a PCI slot exhaust blower that sits under my gfx card. It runs a couple of degrees higher when not under stress, but when gaming it has knocked about 6 deg off my max temps. Not bad for a couple of quid!!

I figured 3DMark may tax the computer enought to heat it up and cause the issue. Well, the original poster hasn't stated anything yet. As far as Ghost is concerned that is way too hot. You need to cool that machine down. Unless that's GPU temp, if it's CPU or worse case temp then you have a cooling problem.

                        25c on fan 1
                        44c on fan2
                        56c on fan 3

                        I ran 3dmark05 and i received a score of 2770.
It did not crash my comp when i ran it.

If it was a overheating problem, Would'nt it cause other problems then just crashing while playing bf2?

                        Thanks for the help

Not necessarily, BF2 is more demanding and can cause stress issues to arise. Your temps look fine. Did you check those readings during or immediately after playing BF2, or are those idle temps? If those are idle temps, play for about 5-7min and Alt-Esc out to the desktop and check the temps. It just really sounds like a heat problem too me.

                            idle temp.

I will try in about an hour after i play bf2. I can't right now--kids to watch.

                            Thanks for your help.

I think i'm going to buy a better power supply with 2 fans and maybe another fan to help cool things off.

Fans are very inexpensive and a great investment. Just jump to the desktop in the middle of a game and check the temps. I use Asus probe and it keeps a running log so I can go back and check the peaks while I was playing. I'm not sure if Speedfan does that.
