Was discussing with my mate about mods for BF2 and whether they will be played or not by a lot of players.
His opinion was that unless they are ranked(and most likelly in my humble are not likelly to get ranked status unless they gain EA approval, and that would most likelly be a while) and you are able to accumulate your points, people will not play them in great numbers. The awards, medals, ribbons and unlocks are a big part of the game for him.
My opinion was that people would go for the mods if they had in there opinion better gameplay than BF2, ie probably have faster, better vehicles and aircraft, higher damage and accuracy rates for weapons, more toys to play with and back to the good maps they had in DC and FH to make excellent battlegrounds. As for unlocks, who will need em if the modders get the guns of the standard kits right first time...maybe even offer a selection of 2 if the menu system allows it, to tune your kit so to speak.
Anyway, starting to ramble.
Where do you fall? Will the mods be played?
