Sound Quality set to high???? the difference

In sound settings whats the difference (in terms of ingame experience) between high and medium (set to hardware both cases).How does it compare with BF42 where you could choose no. of channels and the actual quality setting in Khz???

Someone who really knows waht they're talking about please respond!

When I changed mine from medium to high I noticed much more realistic engine noises in the vehicles, more phrases and better weapons noises.

Things like the heli engine winding up when you get in it etc.

I do believe it affects the frequency of the samples and also the number of channels of audio that can be played simultaneously.

Well, when mine was set to medium/low, it sounded like someone took a crap on my sound card. High actually sounded pretty good.

Digital, it sounds like you changed it from low to high. I changed from medium to high once and the only difference I could tell was that the guns sounded louder.

i have a SoundMAX Digital Audio and i use it on medium sometimes it gets a little crackly sounding when loading up i use it on medium

Running with a Creative X-Fi and running on Ultra High with EAX, I can definately say things sound so much better. However this is coming from someone who has always used integrated audio. Pistols sound a lot crisper, you can definately hear teh things around you a lot clearer.

Yeah putting the sound on high really makes it better you can tell with planes/heli/tanks and with the AT rockets and most of the guns its alot better for immersion

huge differenece between low and medium and almost the same between high and medium.

More sounds, better quality of sounds (its a completly different sound file for EVERYTHING), more phrases (soldiers say a buttload more things.. if you are close you can actually hear them talking to you and on the radio).

I tried to go back to low settings but couldnt do it... it makes a huge difference.

If you're really a serious gamer, than you'd want to enable EAX. Gives you true positional, and lets you know exactly the direction you're being fired at from. Thing is, it's bloddy annoying to have rockets and crap coming at you in your right ear, and nothing in your left ear....at least to me.

It depends on the soundcard you use. The better the card, the better sound you will get.
