Are you considering more RAM ??
Edited...When thinking about more RAM (memory) I can not stress enough that putting any old stick of RAM in your PC is "BAD" you should / must, get matched RAM to your motherboard (MoBo)
If more than one stick of ram is to be used then go with "MATCHED PAIRS" and sell your old RAM
Are you considering more RAM ??

Well, if you are then you need to mach it to your motherboard (MoBo), because not any old sick of RAM will do.
I suggest that you use a RAM manufacturers web site to help you choose and if you are unsure of the results Register yourself so you can post in the manufacturers forums use the forum and ask Questions there.
Don't expect an instant result from the forum, make a note of the link/url where your post is, use your "User CP" after logging in to set up an E-mail with a page link to be sent to you when replies have been added / threaded to your post.
Give only the information of the hardware you are going to put the RAM sticks in,
"DON'T" buy RAM and put it into a different MOBO.
This is Corsairs link where you put in your system information etc. and Corsair gives you the correct RAM for your rig.

I like Corsair hence this post.
There are other manufacturers of course and bright sparks may add them to this post.

When fitting RAM to your MoBo (motherboard) check with your MoBo manufacturers hand book where / which slots to put your multiple RAM sticks (not any hole/slot will do)
For those of You with 4 sticks of RAM Look !
This is a "possible" explanation of why you "may" be getting issues if your PC has 4 sticks of RAM in it and why I have said in the past a single stick or a "matched pair" of RAM is the way to go. Plz look at the answer.
Question from snagy....
"I currently have the TWINXP1024-3200XL (2x512) in my system and would like to add another 1gig. My question is do I have to purchase another identical set of the above mentioned or is there other options available to me?
I saw in the pdf file that Corsair shows my setup with the addition of 2 other memory chips installed. There is no need for an additional pair of LED's, I just need the modules. Thanks".

You could add a pair of Twinx1024-3200XL Modules, but I would not suggest it for few reasons.
1. With 4 modules you may be limited to DDR333 and you will have to relax the timings to make your system stable.
2. There is more loading on the memory controller and with 4 modules you would need to figure about 48 Watts just for memory so you may need to have a bigger PSU.
3. We have never suggested using 4 modules in any system especially if you are over clocking. Many MB's just will not perform well when you have the fully loaded.
4. That picture was just an example to show the size of the modules not to suggest you should run 4 modules.

How do you change the BIOS settings for RAM
This is a link to a guru bios set up ...... http://www.rojakpot.com/default.aspx?location=9
You get into BIOS by tapping "Delete" constantly when PC starts up.
Then make a list of all the bios settings that are set for your PC. >>
Exit with out altering anything >>
Go to this site http://www.rojakpot.com/default.aspx?location=9 and check read the \ bios>.
Check for the "Bios titles" (headings) that are in your PC, against the ones in the above link>>.
Right down the advised Bios settings suggested in rojakpots link, next to the ones you have written down, ("what they should be" advised from rojakpot link).
Go back into BIOs and change,.... save changes and exit.
Things you should know about when setting BIOS and RAM timings.
When tampering with Bios and RAM timings IMHO you should "read up loads" "and" "print off" the information to what you are going to do.
If when setting your RAM timings your PC dose not post (start up before going into windows)
you can turn your pc off at the on off button then at the back of your PC case, turn off the "main power switch" leave off for 2 minuets and turn on main power switch then on / off button your PC should then post but to basic post in Bios. then go into bios as it is posting and alter the timings again until you get it stable to what you want.
Find out how to recover from a "none posting PC".
Find out how to clear "comos".
Find out how to install an up to date BIOS.
You can get "Unmodified Content" errors if you have a faulty stick of RAM.
To test your RAM, to see if it is registering and working correctly, run "Memtest" on one or all sticks as they are now in your PC "then" take out "all" sticks and place one stick only (in the correct slot as per MoBo handbook) and "Memtest" test again for errors.
