I have just bought a new computer, and am trying to set up my existing account which I have used on my old computer. I know only my username, and the number of characters that the password contain. I do not remember the actual password, but can see the asterixes lined up on my other computer. I tried some different combinations that I may have used, and all have failed. I then went to password retrieval, unfortunately it gives you your password by email, not username. Nonetheless, I was pretty sure of the email I used, so I put it in, it gave me the password, and it wasn't 14 characters long. Thinking it might still work, I tried it, and it did not. I then wanted to verify that my username was indeed registered with this email. I did this by going to gamespyid.com and logging in with my email adress, and here the password that the email contained DID work (well obviously...). Anyways, after loggin in, it lists my gamespy profiles. There are 3 of them, Brian, SnIpeX, and SnIpeX9, and my username is SnIpeX9 on Battlefield 2. At this point I was relieved in the sense that my username was associated with this email adress, or is it??? I tried adding an account by email and password via the battlefield 2 main screen, and it ONLY added my SnIpeX account, not SnIpeX9. Yet, SnIpeX9 does read up as one of my gamespy profiles. I tried going to this profile and changing the password, yet when I try to login with it on Battlefield 2 my modified password for the SnIpeX9 profile doesn't work. Thinking it might be BF2, I tried to installg the gamespy program to see if I could login with my SnIpeX9 name using that method. Gamespy Arcade 2.02 simply stops downloading half way through every time. I hate gamespy arcade, but was just thinking that maybe I could use it to try to finally get in. I don't know what to do at this point, but I'm not ready to lose ALL of my stats. Anyone know what I can do to finally login with this computer? Also, is there any way of physically transfering certain files from my other computer in such a way that it would call up my old account just as it would with my old computer?

Pull the Profile.con files from the other PC and paste over the one/s in your new PC:
C:\Documents and Settings\Shamus\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001\Profile.con
Your other profiles will be named 0002, 0003 etc... -

thanks for replying so quick. Ok I did this and when I startup it has my old name, but it doesnt have the old password remembered so I still can't login. This should be the same as your gamespyid profile password right? Because I've changed it a couple of times now to what I want it to be and it won't work on BF2.Comment

Depending upon how long ago you made the changes, it can take the auth. servers a bit of time to get updated.
Another obstacle may be a regestry entry preventing you from using that password. If this is the case, you can follow the instructions to remove these entries and start over using your old Profile.con files. You will have to search these forums for the uninstall method.Comment

I have found a post describing how to delete all reg entries and reinstall, which I have just done. Still, once I enter the game, it doesn't remember the same password that gets remembered on my other computer. I have moved over the entire battlefield 2 folder from the my documents directory.
As for the changes not getting updated on the server, this is still my gamespy profile id for SnIpeX9? My email adress is associated with 3 different gamespy id profiles, acccording to the gamespy site, yet when I put my email adress into Battlefield 2 there is only one name that gets added to the list and it's not the one I've been using for BF2. Does this mean that the SnIpeX9 profile has no association with BF2? And, as for changing the password, I would do so by going to gamespy, logging in with my email, selecting the profile name I use with bf2 (SnIpeX9), and changing that password? I have done this yesterday and the password that I've changed it to still does not work today. And, on my old computer, the old password still works, whatever it is. But regardless, if you were to change your password on bf2, that is how you would do it right? I just want to make sure that I have changed it, if it takes a minute to register that change I'm not that concerned because I don't mind waiting a couple of days. How long would it usually take?Comment

Herein lies your problem. BF2/GameSpy Accounts require a different email addy for each profile and name. Hence, with only one email addy, you will get only one BF2 account.Originally posted by SnIpeX99Comment

I don't know if GameSpy will let you change the email or not. You will just have to try. Some have reported that after trying to modify their account information, they are told that the unique nic is already taken.

Ok I tried to change my profile id for just snipex9 to a different email, but it moves every account to the new email (so I still have 3 accounts with 1 email, at this new email adress). I duno what to do. If I delete the other 2 accounts that I don't care about, leaving only my bf2 account that I've been using, will it now associate that email adress correctly with my bf2 name?Comment

I'm not sure but if it were me, I would try to move the extra profiles to another folder so the game can't see them. Then make sure the profile you want to save is named 0001. Enter Retreive Account Info in the game menu and see if it will sync with your desired profile and remember your password for you and store it in the registry.
Does the GameSpy support page offer any help? I haven't been there.Comment
