Performance Issues - Freezing mid game

For some reason lately BF2 has decided for whatever reason to start freezing ramdomly mid-game. It would sit there for 3-5 Seconds not doing anything similar to lag and then start working again.

It isn't lag because I have constant pings of 40-50 and it also happens when playing single player games.

I've updated my network card , Video card, Motherboard drivers and still no avail. Even uninstalled then reinstalled the above drivers

All video settings have been brought down to LOW or none where possible and the resolution is 800X600.

There are no problems running in the background that are sucking up memory of which I have 2 gig so I don't think it should be causing an issue.

I am now at a loss as to what could be causing this and am willing to try almost anything at this point.

For some reason I can't attach the DxDiag file through but if need be I can post it

Random freezing is usually caused by fastwrites. What kind of motherboard and graphic card do you have?

Hmm, that is odd. Perhaps your HD is set to PIO mode or the PCI Latency in your BIOS needs to be raised to 64 or even 128.

Okay willing to give it a try, could you point me in the direction of how to do this. In the bios what would you usually find this under?

I have the same problem. About 14 days now bf2 just freezess randomly. I changed my PSU, sound card, network card and switched ram bars around. Nothing helps. Game still freezess randomly. Just before it freezess its like fps drops to 1fps. Then i need a hard reboot. I have everything water cooled so overheating is not a problem.

I have

barton 2500+
Nforce2 mobo
GF 6600GT 128mb
1.5gig ram

THe PCI latency timer is located under Advanced Chipset Properties but I just realized that if you have a PCI-E based system this won't help. But if you have an AGP based system, 64 would be my choice.
