you DO realise that BF2 has a single player mode?

You can't even call it that. CoD has a story line single player. BF2 has a single player that they put in in the last second
      "Ok start making the CD's"
"Oh crap we forgot Single player!!!"
"Not to worry, we'll just take the 16 player maps throw some retarded bots on them, and we're done"
      "Ah thats smart boss!"

        Here here!!!! Long Live BF2

i wasnt comparing them in that way i was comparing them more in turns of gameplay, map layout, control system etc. come on we all played the old call of duty multiplayer and you could hardly call it "open". and from playing the single player this game dosnt seem to differ much from the first...

LMAO - dont even get me started on q3 man.... Huge q2 player back in the day - both mp and sp, and q3 just killed it for me. Looks like q4 though will go back to the q2 storyline - finally... guess those crappy q3 sales made them realize they can't go trying to be ut2k4...

Now, back OT. My wife bought me the Collector's edition of HL2 - tshirt, part of a strat guide, dvd instead of several CD's, etc.... I am fairly sure this is the most expensive way to get HL2 - bought from Eb games (wow, people still use brick & mortar stores). I already had steam from my CS1.6 CD, so I was updated to include HL2, CSS and the rest of their 'back catalog'.

NOW, since the retail was distributed by Vivendi games, I have to buy DoD:S. But, if I would have spent less $ and bought the gold package via Steam, I'd have the game.

TOTAL BS, and yes, I'm fully aware how about the liscensing / distribution rights and blah blah blah blah. It still sucks.

Yuck! COD2 looks like crap.honestly even the MP looks crappier now..Wow Activision really screwed this one up..I played the SP,hell lotta scripted sequences, no ragdoll and it was the same old cod with a lot of dust thrown up and even half-assed lame AI...really pathetic..I wonder howz it gonna be..Ill keep a watch out for COD2 (OCt 25th) & Quake 4 (Oct 18th).

omfg, those pic are the nuts. The M1Garand looks cool.

and is that a Grease gun i see? coool.

the ppsh is the pwn, its the russians only SMG. but..it looks like in the first pic the guy on the left has a straight clip in his ppsh... whereas the player has a barrel clip... classes maybe?

The BAR has a bipod, maybe you will get to use it?

The only thing i hate is the nade throwing, it was good in the original as it balanced it out, now you can just throw them willy nilly. It was probably for the 360 players, but for pc it must be changed.

Wow, you weren't compaing the control system WHAT SO EVER, you said it was a linear game, that can be the map layout and gameplay, but, you are still comparing it to a game like battlefield, WICH DOESN'T HAVE A STORY LINE. Not to mention you were probably comparing it to battlefield2's ONLINE. With a story line, you are OBVIOUSLY going to get linear (scripted) gameplay.

And you said the old call of duty online wasn't OPEN??? you obviously havn't played Kursk United offensive with tanks and jeeps.... please know what you're talking about.

UO expansion had some wonderfully open maps...coupled with huge variety of modes on offer it was a blast...CoD2 promises to be even more open - Multiplay! Its a hard one to compare to BFseries...they are made for online play...try comparing the maps of Bf2 to JO, in comparison BF maps are tiny and restricted but that doesnt make any less open!
