Well, I'd spend the extra 50 if I could, but the drive you're getting is fine too. For the ram, how much can you comfortably spend?

      if i get a 7800gt i will be on a tight budget

if i get a 6800gt i will have more to spend on ram and hardrive
      its one or the other

i will be getting 2 gigs of ram in a soon so im not to concerned about having only 1gb

        Get the 7800 GT.
Suck a nut you fvcktard. I told you, if he wanted bang for buck, the X800GTO^2 is gonna be better then the 6800GT, probably better in price/performance then the 7800GT as the prices are still high for those. Get off your ****ing high horse. "a lot worse card", first of all your english is fvcked up and I suggest you take some remedial classes to take care of that, and you dont ****ing know **** obviously as performance differences arent big. Especially if the ATi card gets overclocked compared to the stock 7800GT.

Just perhaps he may want to save money for other parts of his system. I know you think its cool to own a 7800GTX and then own 1 GB of Value RAM....but for people who care...they dont. Oh wait....maybe thats why I score about 800 more then you with my 1GB of RAM, 7800GTX, and only one core of my 4400+ in 3DMark05.

Wow...somebody put a little too much effort into trying to flame somebody over the internet. Good job buddy, your really cool. I don't have 1 GB of RAM, I have 2. You are talking to me about incorrect English? Listen to yourself...and the 7800 GT is only $100 dollars more than the 6800 GT...now tell me which you would choose for only $100 dollars more. Suck me. And congratulations on having a higher 3dMark score than me, considering you have a better system. My processor blows, which is why I'm buying a new one, and I have mismatched VALUE RAM which I will be replacing. We'll see who has a higher score then.

I don't want to re-cover the previous flame/advice If you want a nice performance gain raid 2 small Raptors and use bigger drives for your pron.

The 2 gig mark on Ram is where you should aim, however Xp supports 3 and XP64 16.

If you are getting a 7xx series card really consider starting with 2GBs. You are gonna want to crank up the details and res to high and 1GB is gonna have you hitching like someone pi$$ed in your gas tank.

Besides, adding a 2nd GB later could end you up with mis-matched sticks. Better to bite the bullet now and get a matched dual channel kit.

get rid of that maxtor diamonmax thing, they've been known to have problems. swap it for a seagate or a western digital.
