I think you should get an a ATi X800GTO^2
Its pretty much an thinly disguised X850XT, and would give you probably better performance then the 6800GT and maybe the 7800GT (havent seen comparisons with the 7series) plus its supposed to overclock nicely.

Its going for like $200 @ chiefvalue, newegg, and other places....really nice deal!!

Too late to change it but you should have got the 3700+ over the 3800+.

The 7800 series destroys anything from ATI (for now at least). A 7800GT will beat a X850XT PE.

Nah, go with the 7800gt, right now much better than anything ati has out, especially if you don't care about oc'ing.
For the hd, I'd replace it with

it's only another 20 bucks, plus you get double the cache which should help you with the load times.

Did you choose 1x1GBstick because you plan to upgrade to 2x1GB at a later time?

It is best to have 2xwhatever sice it will run in dual channel, but if you are planning on the second 1GB stick at later time stay with the 1x1Gb for now.

If not go for 2x512 now. Later you have the choce to run run 4x512 but not as good a choice as 2x1GB.

I agree I would rather choose the 3700+ over the 3800+. The 3700+ can easily be OCed to 4000+ speeds, mine runs at 2640MHz now on just air. You can probably OC the 3800+ but you can't put more cache on it.

the 1mb cache is not that important at 2.2 or 2.4ghz the 4000 gets around 5% better fps than the 3800

and you can overclock a 3800 to 2.8 easily with air stock fan cooling at that speed its easily faster than the fx 55 in tests

Are you freakin stupid? The 78 series owns any card out.

To the original poster: your rig looks pretty nice, but the 3700 San Diego would be better than the 3800. Another thing, if you plan on playing BF2 on all high with that 78 GT, you are going to need more than a gig of ram to not have any studdering. Get another gig if possible.

im thinking of waiting another couple of weeks until ati release its x1800 xl so i can choose the best possible card


can someone just look at the details of that ram im buying its only "value" ram not any xms ram or anything and i never plan to overclock my memory

mat def i cant find a good hardrive with 16mb cache for a good price over here i would have to spend around $50 more in your money
