ARG! Still Takes 30-45 minutes to find a GD server

Anyone else getting irritated at waiting 30-45 minutes (on a good day) to find a ranked server. Its one thing if this game had a single player mode but it doesn't, that means EA Games is responsible for providing adequate serves for the number of copies sold. I realize the cheap coporate #$%holes planned on saving hella money and making the community rent game servers for them, but come on.

I think its time file a grievance with the Better Business Burea. The ranked servers are full 24x7, except the empty ones, which require 6 players minimum. Man. BF2; another serious let down. Ive been a software delopver working for software companies for 12 years and it blows my mind that EA is this incompetent over something so easily fixed. Man, bandwidth isn't that expensive, especially when you buy in bulk. So stop counting your money EA, and put up some public servers. My god. I realize ethics is a rare word these days, but DAMN. Oh, and god forbid 3-4 friends trying to get on the same server. I simply gave up on that.

How long until Rainbow 6 Lockdown comes out?

You must be doing something wrong since I can find a ranked server in about 30 seconds. It is a pain to find one with 4 open slots though, but that's to be expected.

Why are EA required to provide servers? You don't have to play on a ranked server, and there are plenty of non-ranked servers out there. Sounds like you don't have a leg to stand on for your legal challenge. As for your whinge about the empty servers - well unless you get in there nobody's going to fill it up. "Oh, its empty well I won't go there". Get your four friends together, with you and that is five - one more person joins and you have a game. Before long if your complaints of full servers are true, then you'll have a full server and a fun game on your hands.

Better Business Bureau isn't there to protect you from stupidity or pointless, unfounded whinging. Wait until you get ripped off to the tune of several hundred dollars before you go wasting the time of the corporate watchdog.

How does it take you 45 minutes to find a server?

It has taken me a maximum of 3 minutes to find a server. . .and that was when I was looking for a particular map at a particular size with a particular number of people on it.

If I don't care, I can get in on a ranked server in less than 30 seconds.

I find ranked servers in under 30 secs on a bad day. USE YOUR FILTERS!

I filter for ranked servers, running voice comm, punkbuster enabled, large maps only, not empty and not full, and less than a ping of 100, sorted by ping - i get 5-6 pages of servers in under 30 secs.

The only thing I do is click multiplayer, then stop search, type 100 into ping box and hit enter - wait for search to complete (about 10-15 secs), then double click the server i want based on map or players in it.

            IT IS NOT THAT HARD

I use the ASE and i can refresh the entire ranked list in 30 seconds and find 300 ranked servers with people in them (with points, not waiting for more) and have many slots open.

You are doing something wrong or something. Hell, if i can't find a server/map i like in a few minutes i just go do something else for a while.

Use the Play Now button if you are in a hurry. Unfortunately, it could put you anywhere including some odd 12 slot servers running the 64 player size maps.

I use Xfire's Server tab. It keeps track of all the servers I've been to and allows me to tag them as favorites.

According to this v1.03 Pre-patch post here:

even on a popular/full 64 server it only takes a couple of minutes of trying to join to finally get on.

Thank god they are adding favorites though.

You GOT to be kidding? I filter Ranked servers, Not Empty, PB enabled, Large Maps. I keep the Not Full button unchecked because alot of times, my favorites are full & I want them to show up. It takes only 2 or 3 tries to connect when they are full before I get in. As for Single Player .... What game did you buy, because my game has it.

he MUST be selecting that "play now" button (or shotcut on desk top) that everyone has known NOT to use for months. as we all know, that button searches for an official EA ranked server, and takes forever.

I though that was common knowledge by now. oh well. maybe he'll learn via this thread.

I love XFIRE. For those who don't know you can just click on the server you have been to recently and XFIRE will start BF2 and add the IP address as a command-line option to automatically log you into that server:
