Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback Pro soft :(

I got Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback Pro joystick (gameport version). After reading some info about makeing it work with Windows XP i installed it. And it works but the feedback function does not work .. and the joystick is soft (like broken). Actually it doesn return to center, because there is no support for feedback function of this joystick under windows xp.

Please help me solve this problem
I cant play with such soft joy.
I want it hard as a .... :)

Battlefield doesn't have support for force feedback, my forcefeedback 2 returns to center though..

I have an original MS Sidewinder Pro FF #1 on a gameport & it works great.

The MS SW FFB JS will usually be soft on games that don't support the FFB functions of DirectInput (part of DirectX 9). Other games that do support DirectInput don't always properly code it so that the JS retains it's rigidity.

There is a version of the software for that stick that works for XP. I don't use it right now since the stick works ok without it. I have the USB version but I think the software works on all of them...

i saw in the readme file that gameport joysticks are not sopported
but it works ... but the greatest problem is that it doesnt return to center by himself.. it's soft

and how u make it returns to center when u leave it?!!!? mine doesnt - the stick stays where i leave it.

the fact that it doesnt return to center is because tey wanted it to simulate a real fighter jet controler. but thats not really good for bf2.

I have one where the force feed back dosent work and the trigger dosent work, but I bought a Logiteck and hated it as it was too hard to fly the helo's with it so I took it back and went back to the old microsoft stick and my flying is good once again.
