I thought I would try doing a manual installation to get rid of some of the problems I've been having such as random crashes and the never ending Modified Content problems. When looking at the ea tech support site though the instructions for a manual install end at select all.... At any rate I have all three discs in three seperate folders right now...what next?

Re: How to do a Manual Installation?
Well but see if I let it install itself I'm getting numerous MD5 erorrs. I was going to try and install it from my harddrive if thats possible. Unless....Am I reading that thread wrong? To me it sounds like it is basically saying install it to the new folder which is supposed to be created.Comment

Did you Mem test them one by one??? take them all out and test with one in then swap and test etc.

Ok here is how I finally fixed my problem.
After just random discconects because of the modified content I noticed a pattern. The times I was getting disconnected was when I was attempting to connect to certain maps.
http://forum.eagames.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=3356
Following this threads advice I ran the md5 checks an sure enuff the maps I was getting disconnected from were the ones that failed.
So I uninstalled then reinstalled, ran the patch an ran the md5 check. Now different maps were corrupt. Looked at the patchlog.txt in My Documents/BF2/dmp an the same files that failed the md5 failed to patch.
This time I deleted the corrupt files then copied the bf2 dir to another drive. Then uninstalled an reinstalled AGAIN. patched checked the log saw a couple of failed files ran the md5 an they matched with the patchlog. Luckily they were different files than last time. I copied over the files from my backup. Reran the patch an all files were then fully patched. Ran the md5 again an the only thing that failed was Objects_client.zip. BUT the patch did patch it.
Finally! I have now played several days with no problems and I've tried every map. Hopefully this will help out some folks. Yeah its a PITA but it works. I've also made a copy of the working BF2 dir so when the next patch hits I shouldnt have any problems.
Sorry but its 5.30 AM and I need some ZZZZzzzzz I will look back here for you tomorow bud.

You will want to manually remove all game files, folders and regestry entries from your PC first if you want any success in replacing those broken files.Comment

Re: How to do a Manual Installation?
Ok with the MD5 checks I have downloaded the 1.02 stuff and saved it to a notepad file. I'm not quite sure what to do with the ,d5summer program though. I'm guessing that after I install bf2 and then the 1.02 patch I run md5summer, select the bf2 folder as the root then the checksums will be the notepad thing I have saved. Is this about right? I'm going to start a fresh install as I speak.Comment

Re: How to do a Manual Installation?
I've gotten the errors down to the following but no matter how many times I install these same ones are always there
mods\bf2\objects_client.zip
RenDX9x2.dll
and about 21 SD.dll's.
If there SD dll files are not user specific could anyone on here send me theirs...?
I know the objectsclient zip is huge so that wont work lol....Comment
