OMFG! I fixed it! It took about 7 minutes to "Verify Client Data" after the map loaded... I tried everything, fiddled with the settings defragged my drive and I got nothing. Well over on the Australian EA boards some guy figured out that his drive was running in PIO mode instead of DMA... I'm not a big hardware guy, but if you go into Device Manager, open IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and double-click on the Primary IDE Channel or Secondary IDE Channel and then the Advanced Settings tab you should see a listing for Current Transfer Mode. If it says PIO, you've got a problem. I don't know how to fix it exactly... I made sure that I had 80 pin IDE cables (one was 40 pin) and made sure my jumpers were in the right place (I had one drive set to Cable Select and the other to Master) and made sure my BIOS settings for the Drives and Internal Peripherals were set correctly and now it takes a whopping 30 seconds to verify client data! This may not fix it for everybody, but it's obscure enough that it just might solve the problem... :)
