I just wish that the servers that had a policy like that would put up the warnings. I have been on a couple of servers that have popped up a message:

Beerstein: hey noob, you suck - stop the tk - all your base are belong to us

**server: Warning: beerstein - watch the foul language - this is your first and last warning

Next time you curse you get booted.

It is a script and works like a champ

This is a good idea. i will suggest this to the guy who does our scripts.

we kick on n00b because its insulting to new players and wtf cos of what it stands for. We have admins who kick anyone who tries to insult another player because we do not want arguments on our server.

You have to understand that the reason we kick for these words isnt because of the words themselves, its because they are normally said in anger or to start an arguement. The rules are to make sure people have fun playing.

I agree though, if its a private server you have to abide by their rules. I have played on one that warns you whenever you say "bad words" I have been kicked a few times, but i just join the same server again 2 secs later because the ban isn't for any length of time.

If you can't follow the server rules, then you deserve to be kicked and banned. Simple as that. Go rent your own and make a rule that you have to add swear word in every line of chat if that will make you happy.

I enjoyed reading most of this topic, mainly for the unique arguments used to justify using foul language on a clan server that does not allow it.

There are certain things that some people will consider extreme and that others will not. I can tell you from using the bf2cc newest release with the language filter that there are some things we have had to tweak. "suck" is something it kicks for although we don't have a problem with that, unless someone is repeatedly using it to verbally attack someone.

Our fundamental rules are: respect your fellow players and keep the language clean.

If you follow those you're usually okay.

This is horribly pathetic, not to mention redundant. I cant belive you people complain about this. It's not like language filters are manditory for ranked servers. Instead of finding one that allows you to use your "creative" vocabulary you come to a public forum and scream about your freedom of speach. The fact that you lack enough self control to keep from typin, what maybe ten words + variations, is pathetic. You say "your kids hear worse at school". Well maybe but that does not mean they have to be inundated with it at every possible opportunity. Maybe some day you will mature enough to realize there is a time and a place for everything. Someone elses server who dose not wish to be subjected to your "creative" writing abilities is not the place for them. I will agree that due to the fact that language filters are optional a resposible server admin should clearly state the rules for their server or have warning scripts running. But to come in here on your little soap box and yell "how dare you tell me what I can say in Your house" is, well pathetic.

I hate foul language server that kick you for saying bad words,you know your KILLING PEOPLE blowing things up etc etc but yet you cant say a bad word,please give me a break everybody in the word say's bad words even 12 yr old kids

It is their server and they have the right to do with it as they please. If you do not like their choice of rules, you are more than welcome not to play there.

This argument reminds me of something. . . .

Have you ever been to a sporting event, movie theater, restaurant, etc. where there's a bunch of families with children or women and there's that loud annoying guy dropping the f-bomb every 2 seconds and everyone cringes? Why is that? Because foul language has no place in public speaking. If you're with a bunch of friends that's one thing, but around strangers is another.

This is actually about a server that would kick someone for typing the word 'suck' which could begin it's own argument into what is/isn't foul language.

There are constant references to obeying a server's rules in this thread though this server has no rules posted describing obscene language and doesn't warn for first or accidental offenses. Hence getting out of hand, this is not about f-bombing or even nOOb bashing.

There should be a ranked server rule that Moronic servers such as Old Farts should;

A) Post a message that says we consider a bunch of words foul language that most reasonable people wouldn't so it's best that you just don't use the chat function since we auto-kick without warning if you intentionally type or mistype a word we feel is harmful to our gaming environment.

B) <or> make use of a warning system to alert the majority of people that the server's interpretation of 'potty talk' is rather extreme when they type in that they are "sucking tonight" or "defend our assets"

1. Its not up to you to decide what is/isn't foul language.

2. Read my post again or at least quote the whole thing. I said that I agree, a responsible server admin should post the rules of thier server or have warning scripts running.

3. This forum is not the place to get those things done. If you want something to be done about it post it in the server's forum or contact the admin. Be respectful offer a place to get the warning scripts and you may just get something accomplished.

there should have simply been tons of blood and gore, to go with the act of, you know, murdering other human beings in the game to keep the impressionable little children/immature folk that can't handle some trash talk out...
