Planet Combat and EA Announce Game Service of Battlefield 2
New Service Provides ‘Meta Game’ that Expands the Online Play Experience
BOSTON, MA – September 28, 2005 – Planet Combat, a leading internet community organizer, today announced that is has joined forces with Electronic Arts to create an online game service that will expand the world of Battlefield 2. Designed by Planet Combat, BF2 Combat™ is a ‘meta game’ which allows players to carry over their military campaigns from round to round. The two unique initiatives will change forever the way the game is played.
Players can step into the BF2 Combat™ world by embarking on the Battlefield 2 Tour of Duty™. Located at www.bf2combat.net, the ‘meta game’ features multiple large-scale 10 hour battles every week. The Tour of Duty™ lets members duke it out across three theaters in a dynamically updating, ever-expanding conflict. The website’s central battle map updates after every three month tour, offering new paths and possibilities. BF2 Combat™ allows players to qualify for a variety of distinctions and even participate in a training program designed by ex-U.S. Army Rangers. BF2 Combat™ also boasts the Clan Fusion™ program, which allows clans or LAN centers to join in groups of up to 50 and play with the same unit.
